I have been working at Campbell Soup Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The pay is pretty good....a lot of overtime offered in some departments. Good insurance and 401k plus a credit union.

    Cons

Leaderships can be extremely unfair. Some are lucky and are ask to do very little and others get loads of responsibilities dumped on them. Forced overtime for coverage for the slackers on other shifts. No retirement or pension plan.

    Advice to Management

They really need to focus on the Team Leaders. Some are poorly trained and do not know HOW to lead. It can make the team become frustrated and extremely unhappy. Unorganized and unfair.

    Pros

Campbell's, Prego, V8, Pepperidge Farm, Tim Tams and Bolthouse Farms are great brands. Also, pay and benefits are very good. Modern and classy HQ building.

    Cons

Poor products behind great brands - soups are overloaded with sodium, and thin on other stuff (like chicken), V8 Splash using HFCS instead of natural sugar, Bolthouse Farms' juices are tasty but misleading consumers i.e. Blue Goodness smoothie with blueberries and blackberries featured on the front labels contains mainly a much cheaper and not that sexy apple juice (Incould buy a 64oz jar of Apple juice for the same price or less than BH 32oz bottle). Good politics and whom you know within the company will get you a promotion, not your outstanding performance. Lots of talk about change and being accountable but .... not much walk. VERY slow progress, very slow decision-making process. Closed to new ideas, even those proven successful by others in the marketplace. And finally, not enough investment behind marketing of the new and existing products - this company is slowly dying.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and smell the roses. Start doing what you preach - 'real food' may contain HFCS or tons of sodium but not real food. Look at the mirror and be honest with yourself and your consumers.

I have been working at Campbell Soup Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people who you can see working with for years to come. It's not just a job, it's a family.

    Cons

Sometimes it can get stressful. Forced overtime makes it hard with people who have families.

    Advice to Management

Don't get overwhelmed. The people on the floor don't understand why things are the way they are. When the employees get frustrated about things that's out of your control then tell them that. That somethings are out of your control. And if the are still getting frustrated then tell them the information they need to know and then walk away. Don't take to heart their threats. Just know you did the best you could with what you got.

I have been working at Campbell Soup Company full-time

    Pros

Campbell's is a good company that offers their employees great perks and benefits. They are not only located in Camden but they are strong contributors to their Camden neighbors.

    Cons

Campbell's is a relationship based culture that can be both good and bad. Unfortunately, if you don't make the right connections and form relationships with the right people you might have a hard time climbing the career ladder at Campbell.

    Advice to Management

Make opportunities open and available to all employees not just the department "favs". Get serious about diversity and inclusion and don't make it just a "checked" box on performance reviews.

I worked at Campbell Soup Company full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits are excellent. Campus has very nice, gym, cafeteria. Summer hours are offered so you get out around noon every Friday Memorial Day through the end of September,

    Cons

VERY political. Management has favorites that make you scratch your head. They are currently dumping any employees with experience in favor of low cost entry level employees.

    Advice to Management

Campbell Valuing People should be more than a slogan for a hallway poster.

I worked at Campbell Soup Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great brands, smart, marketing driven organization. Clear objectives and strategies, all working toward same mission. Mid-sized company, can maneuver in matrixed organization fairly easily.

    Cons

Pressure to grow in established categories can create stress for organization and often results in changes in plans when performance is not meeting expectation even early on in year when plans have not had traction to meet goals. Culture changes with management evolution and continued lay-off environment also demonstrates lack of belief in the people, despite strong functional skill sets and commitment to organization and goals.

    Advice to Management

while short term gains are profitable, loss in culture and quality people can have longer term ramifications on a company.
