I have been working at Campbell Soup Company full-time

    Pros

Pay, benefits, people are all positives at Campbell. You work long hours. American Iconic brand. Ethical company. Sense of pride as an employee.

    Cons

Culture, old school management style - lots of red tape, takes a long time to get decisions made. Poor work life balance. Sales are declining. Need more innovation.

    Advice to Management

Strike a better work life balance with all employees both at WHQ and at plant locations. Stop implementing policies with no consideration of the plant employees.

I have been working at Campbell Soup Company full-time

    Pros

Good experience with working with chain accounts.

    Cons

Very Micromanaged company. Not truthful to employees from upper management. Upper management has no idea of the amount of time a district manager spend on the job. I would say a average weekly hours are 60 hrs. Not a good work life balance environment.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees and distributors as partners. Have work life balance.

I worked at Campbell Soup Company full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Iconic, winning brands. Excellent work culture. Good Work-life balance. Talented and motivated teammates. Strong parent company support (Campbell's Soup). Opinions and Ideas are valued. Solid performance evaluation system.

    Cons

Campbell's Soup Company and all subsidiaries are currently going through a widespread re-structure. The culture of Pepperidge Farm as was originally created by the company's founder, is beginning to give way. There are many changes being made to job roles and descriptions. Looks as though PF is on the way to transitioning to more of a brand of Campbell's and less of a company with it's own personality.

    Advice to Management

As with all successful CPG companies, change is inevitable. Pepperidge Farm, however, was built on a strong foundation of quality products, iconic brands and entrepreneurial spirit and passionate employees. With the new changes that are taking place. You must make sure that the history and foundation of what made the company a great place to work is not lost. It's all about the people.

I worked at Campbell Soup Company full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Campbell Soup is a great company to work for and is very flexible with work & life balance, by allowing you to work from home when needed. The people working there are very friendly and supportive. The base pay was good and they gave out good bonuses once a year.

    Cons

Campbell Soup is not very good at providing employees with a career path and career advancement. They also were not good with providing training and it was difficult to get funding approved to take outside courses for career advancement.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be to continue providing the flexibility to their workers and same level of compensation, but put more effort in providing employees a clearer career path and additional outside training in support of that path.

I worked at Campbell Soup Company full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    * Loved the people. Made some friends that I will be close to 20 years from now * Good work-life balance by CPG standards * Love the brands and the culinary spirit there

    Cons

    * Just tons and tons of management layers. Creates tons of busy work, neuters getting anything done and leads to rampant politics. They keep bringing in consultants that tell them this, but they can't seem to bring themselves to take a layer out, they just trim the number of bodies each time. * Lack of integrity at the most senior levels. Not that they are breaking any laws, but they don't do what they say and don't follow through on promises. Main reason I left. * Very challenging industry with current culinary trends. They know it and are trying to change, but have been getting their lunch eaten by smaller start-ups.

    Advice to Management

Take the plunge and reduce the number of organizational layers. Shoot straight and don't promise things that you can't and won't deliver on. Keep pushing on fresh and healthy foods - that is where the world is headed.
