I have been working at Campus Cooks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

All the tools and training to do the job, great support from company, excellent advancement opportunities, normal work hours, lots of paid time off (Christmas, thanksgiving, spring break etc)

    Cons

The summer break ( a little over 3 months) can be a bit tough if you don't plan ahead, but can be a blast if you do! unemployment isn't much but it is manageable

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work that you do!

I worked at Campus Cooks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent Work schedule
    Energy from the house members

    Cons

Very little support with horribly equipped kitchens (not even a phone) grumpy know it all about food service House Directors and supervisors who assume but aren’t around.
When you bring up an issue to your supervisor, it is not properly or professionally handled.

    Advice to Management

Show real support and stop faking it.

    Pros

Free food and Christmas break. Summer break sucks because you don’t get paid.

    Cons

The whole work life balance thing is a lie, 6 days a week 60+ hours a week. Complete disconnect from home office and stuff. Regionals are a joke. Must say on the application to become a regional supervisor that you must be lazy and not know anything about the position.

No room for growth, they say they hire from within but they don’t. You have a good budget that’s close to prison Food budgets for as many people as you’re feeding. The pay is decent but you get a measly 3% raise every year with no bonuses. More money elsewhere. Don’t come to this crappy company. College Chefs pays way more.

    Advice to Management

Get it together and hire better supervisors

I worked at Campus Cooks full-time

    Pros

My regional supervisor was a very nice person. Able to directly order products

    Cons

Company claims to promote care for Greek System. They are ripping off the students. Budget next to nothing to provide food. Dishonest Directors. Don’t actually run background checks. Only interested in the higher ups getting rich

    Advice to Management

No growth opportunities when you make budget cuts for the chapter. People deserve better. Live up to your values.
    Stop lying to people.

I worked at Campus Cooks full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The only pro is that they regularly have free food items to consume. No other pros worth justifying working here.

    Cons

The office structure is a hoax. They sell themselves to potential employees by staying they have a "relaxed" environment but nothing can be further from the truth. Management is uptight and watches you closely and criticizes your every move like going for a 5-minute walk. Then if they don't like you, they create a pretty excuse to get rid of you. There's no bounds here.

    Advice to Management

You will constantly miss out on some of your best potential employees if you keep getting hung up on pettiness.

    Pros

    Summers and holidays off, nice

    Cons

You work as servants to residents. Area manager and corporate have little respect for staff, only interested in profit, not an ethical company.

I have been working at Campus Cooks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work/Life Balance, great team, appreciative clients, non-punitive culture, opportunities to learn about food and management, work is a source of pride

    Cons

People who are not self-motivated typically do not do well. Most positions in the company do not consistently work with their supervisor looking over their shoulder. This is a ‘pro’ for me though!!

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on streamlining technology

I have been working at Campus Cooks full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work/Life balance. Independence. A lot of paid time off. Support from upper management and HR. Unique experience. Insurance is offered.

    Cons

Insurance is expensive (no fault of Campus Cooks), but at least it is offered.

    Advice to Management

Maintain regular communication with UM’s, even if just a quick check-in by phone or email.

I have been working at Campus Cooks part-time

    Pros

Easy going and well rounded management that is always quick to respond with the most appropriate answers.

    Cons

I can't really say anything bad about them, especially as my co-workers and I have been treated so well.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing a great job, as y'all do amazing work in a rather tough line; also, thank you to their great opportunity in a time of need!

I worked at Campus Cooks full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Paid Time Off
    Professional Development
    Freedom to design menus
Corporate Team that cares about employees...don't believe the negative comments by the few. This company truly cares about the employee. However, if you aren't truly qualified in all aspects of being a chef, you probably aren't going to make it.

    Cons

Unpaid summers off are a deal breaker
    Pay could be better

    Advice to Management

Find a way to employ/pay chefs that you want to retain over the summers
