I worked at Canadian Tire full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Convenient Toronto Location
    Iconic Canadian Brand
Still manages to compete and thrive despite changing retail landscape

    Cons

Quirky business model with store dealers (aka franchise owners) makes it difficult to be nimble, or to agree upon and implement many initiatives
Since store owners own their inventory, they manage their own buying decisions. This can lead to a suboptimal customer experience in terms of inventory availability.

I worked at Canadian Tire full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Allowed me to work full time/part time around school and scheduled shifts that i chose and made it very easy during exams (this depends on manger/location)
    Learn good communication skills
    Multi-tasking between departments
Easy to move up to supervisor if position opens
Learned how to use pretty much every tool, peice of hardware exc
Nice, stress free workplace, you do not go home with stuff to think/worry about
    Christmas Party + staff events/giveaways

    Cons

When your new you get closing shifts a lot (1-9pm) which isn't bad if thats what you like, more senior people got day shifts which are envied. After a year in my department i started opening every day as you are more relied upon.
Revolving door of people most of the time, if your working weekends chances are its mainly kids/part time people
Clocking out on breaks is a joke and takes 5 minutes out of a 15 minute break which is why alot of our store stopped doing it
They dont give you benefits when you are full time by keeping you part time working 40 hours a week

    Advice to Management

Canadian Tire needs to hire better managers that actually care for their employees and customers. They also need to start providing adequate training.
