I worked at Canadian Tire full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay and lots of opportunity for internal movement. Some interesting technologies to work with. Lots of time to learn new technologies and methods.

    Cons

Overall, Canadian Tire provided a relaxing work environment and a number of good perks. However, the company can be very slow to change and it is unusually bureaucratic, even for a company of its size.

    Advice to Management

Make sure senior management and mid-level management are aligned as to strategy. There is a fair bit of misalignment between levels of leadership at the company.

I have been working at Canadian Tire full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great crew. Managers do their job.

    Cons

Much politics within department of customer service.
Hiring cashier with the capability of deceiving customers
Retail Manager has no people skills and involved too much with the percentages one hundred percent of the time and hardly ever comes down from his tower to spend each day with staff. Only relates with the young and beautiful.

    Advice to Management

Come down from your glass tower and work on the cash lanes to get to know how your voice loses its tenor when you have been asking if they have a Canadian Tire Money card for 6 to 8 hours. Smile and be more personable most of all to staff, and a positive comment goes a long way.

I worked at Canadian Tire part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Had great hours to work, good colleagues to work with. Gained knowledge about the cash department working & the customer service.
Also worked at garden center with beautiful plants & trees all summer.

    Cons

Some of the people working here as part time are mostly in high school so it's hard to ask for any help. Like if you help someone by taking their particular shift as a favour but when you need help with your shift, they ignore it completely.
Some managers like to keep up there nose in everything you do & by chance if you make any mistakes, they complain to GM without giving proper suggestions to the employees.
For part time starters, the pay's only a basic and very low hours.

    Advice to Management

The employees should be trained properly by the respective managers.
Managers should interact with employees at the end and have a coordination. It goes same for GM too.
