    Pros

Market leader in targeted brands. In day to day work it means that it eases your sales job a bit. Getting invited, telling your brands story.
Canon is investing in new markets, in my job this means making the shift from traditional print to digital. Either in inbound processing documents, outbounds Customer Communication services or creative services (inhouse agency)

    Cons

Working in new fields means sometimes pioneering. It is not everybodies game. It means hard work talking to your customers, developing services in co creation and convincing Canon internally of new ways to invest in.

    Advice to Management

Continue in investing in new markets. Become even more agile to invest in digital document services. Keep Supporting pioneers in our company

    Pros

The Japanese are truly long term thinkers and clearly value your skills if you show you really care and treat the company like it was your own. ICT streams have changed dramatically over the years with multiple vendors on site and offshore model for certain functions. The real strength lie with the great mix of people from various companies, permanent staff at the company as well as externals. It is a great place to develop and grow.

    Cons

IT processes have become a bit too complicated leading to bureaucratic processes and reducing efficiency

    Advice to Management

As expected there can be a bit of empire building between each consultancies, resulting in teams working in silos. The cracks are starting to appear, but not so much that it is a big concern. Definately something to think about as well as moving to a more agile way of working across business and IT

I have been working at Canon EMEA full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people, genuinely multi-cultural, and a collaborative working environment - I've made good friends, and laugh every day!
Canon is making big changes, but still trying hard to stay true to its values and do things in the right way.
If you're proactive and a bit patient, you always have the opportunity to do and learn something new.

    Cons

A very flat structure means that your job title won't change for a long time, even as you learn and develop new skills, so if you're expecting promotion every 12 months this will frustrate you.
It's a collaborative decision-making process, but this takes time, and a lot of talking... so you'll need to be patient, and good at building relationships.

    Advice to Management

Be brave, keep going in the right direction, make bold decisions. Be prepared to invest more to get, develop and retain the talented people you need for the future. Recognise that small things and gestures of appreciation can make the difference to employees...

    Pros

The dynamics of the organisation have changed over the recent years and focus is starting to shift from a product driven organisation to a solution driven organisation. The company culture is gradually chaning from a Japanese one to a more european one.

    Cons

Relationships with the national sales organisations could be improved. Talent management has been initiated but new appointments still are based on old networks. The company culture is really risk averse and changes and innovation can take a long time.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees and focus on the what goes right rather than tight control and mitigating risks.
