I worked at Canongate Golf part-time

    Pros

A lot of good benefits such as free golf, food, and clothing discounts.

    Cons

Poor leadership and was often not given the resources to do the best job we could for the customers.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the needs of the Cart Staff rather than always thinking they're trying to slack.

    Pros

Great golf for free. Upper management was helpful with growing team. Very easy going and stress free. I enjoyed my time

    Cons

Pay not the highest in the golf business but fair for the job that was done. Advancement didn't happen as often as I would have liked

I worked at Canongate Golf full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Even if you work one day a week, you still get to golf for free and practice until your heart's content. Most of the day is spent outside and it's a golf course so most of the times you will be in a relaxing atmosphere.

    Cons

The occasional customer can be in a bad mood for no reason at all and some days are spent in constant motion. Management can be a bit disconnected from entry level workers, but it just depends on the course you go to.

    Advice to Management

Connect with entry level employees on a more personal level. Instead of giving orders with no explanation, involve your lower ranking employees in the how and why aspects of certain daily activities. Work will flow much more smoothly and everyone will be much happier.

I worked at Canongate Golf full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to work but not organized. A lot of what they focus on is the club house and it is a great atmosphere to work in.

    Cons

They tend to neglect the condition of the golf course and put more focus on the club house to draw members in. The pay for most all positions is average or slightly below average.

    Advice to Management

Make it simple and dont continue to change things every other week. There is also a problem with who to report to and listen to.

    Pros

It was an easy job. Outside on a beautiful golf course all day. Enjoyed free golf, and great discounts on food and equipment. Great for a teenagers first job.

    Cons

Pay was extremely low (minimum wage)
Was told I would never be able to make more unless minim wage went up because we could receive tips. The problem is, we never received tips.

I worked at Canongate Golf part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Definitely get the chance to prove yourself. Benefit of working and getting golf comp. was a great perk for me personally. Also liked the fact that once you were at work your boss pretty much let you be and let you do your job.

    Cons

Work hard for what you get. Pay isn't great and you work your tail off.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. I understand why they do what they do.

    Pros

Work with great people. Great team environment. Free Golf for employees which is great. Can sometimes work with your schedule. Members are very nice.

    Cons

Pay is low. Management doesn't give out any money to improve course. Somedays ask to work longer than usual. Sometimes on schedule and calls you off and doesnt tell you.

    Pros

Company is profitable - that does not necessarily mean a better experience for members or better pay for employees.

    Cons

Employees are considered assets, not people.
    Pay is terrible.
The majority of the decision-makers are just not that smart.
    Benefits are nonexistent.

    Advice to Management

Step out of your bubble and see what is really happening at your clubs.
