I have been working at Canteen full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Peter's a great CEO... cares about his people and doing the right thing. He's approachable at every level; and makes himself available to all associates. Canteen is growing under his leadership and he's sharing the success through incentives and encouraging managers to promote from within.

    Cons

People work long hours, but Canteen is beginning a new program to address that.

I worked at Canteen full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They are a hugh company with benifits. Not the best but you will be paid after the first month, and if you can deal with the personalities for 90 days your benifits will kick in.

    Cons

After seeing 5 drivers get shuffled
    1.you notice the revolving door.
2.The training staff are crooks .
    3. The route managers are complacent at best. 4.How can you not see the numbers. Normal route guy goes on vacation you send a trainer/utility to cover the week suddenly the route is down $ 3,000 in product.
    5. Having previous dsd experience I understood every aspect of the job. Found numerous issues with inventory of many machines, the only response I got was fill the machine like I was a moron.
6.the training/utility staff who was supposed to fix the route cannot see the issues. Then your problem is with the training staff or you are intentionally setting the routes so that the commission you offer is totally misleading believe me every driver there has that, " I just want to get home attitude".
8.Haven't made a Bonus in Forever!

    Advice to Management

Fix your training staff and managers . They need serious couching on spending of company funds , routing and accounting. This could be a great company . You have a couple more flaws in your system but that kind of consulting cost .

    I worked at Canteen full-time

    Pros

There is nothing positive about working for a self obsessed company like canteen. Stay far away especially in the Shreveport area.

    Cons

Will lie to you to get you to do what they want. They only care about themselves and their profit.

    Advice to Management

    Fire your gm!

    Pros

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Needs to be more willing to train employees more than they do

I worked at Canteen full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great salary (unless you factor in all the overtime hours) and benefits.
There is a clear promotion path to work towards

    Cons

You will be overloaded almost continuously and it is all expected to be completed by a set time or all hell breaks loose
Management is difficult to communicate with on every level
    Negative atmosphere absolutely everywhere
Lack of basic resources to actually do the job - Virtually all clients/customers have no information about them in the database
Needlessly complex tasks that could be corrected easily if management could/would try
Management is very aggressive about time off
I've been lied to by management and found out, do not trust them

    Advice to Management

A total culture change needs to happen to make this business more successful.

    Pros

The time goes by fast, pay can be negotiated. There are a few nice customers who are friendly.

    Cons

I work at the General Electric cafeteria. The customers are a bunch of angry old men who complain about everything. Co-workers are very gossipy and are rude to you if you are the new girl. If you're new, random things you had nothing to do with will be blamed on you.

    Advice to Management

Stop allowing employees to be rude to other employees. Stop buying old produce.
