I have been working at Canteen full-time

    Pros

The ability to advance and relocate within the company is just about unlimited. You work hard, but dedication is rewarded and the company is getting more and more employee focused every year.

    Cons

It is hard work in all weather.

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on the employees that work hard every day and keep up the community caring.

I have been working at Canteen full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Passionate, Customer Oriented, Team Environment, Diverse, witlessness to go above and beyond for our customers.

    Cons

With many project at one time, sometimes we forget about our customers. Career advancement opportunities are low, because its an amazing company to work therefore, no one wants to leave...

    Advice to Management

Try to get away from the office and see at least one customer a day!
And the biggest advice, is to have Leadership to visit more branches more often.

    Pros

Canteen pertains to an affiliate named Compass. They pretty much have one all over the country, which makes it good for transferring and keeping your job.

    Cons

This Canteen I work is at a college and what they don't tell you is that when summer classes start, most of the new workers are either laid off or temporarily sent to another location, so it is best to have another part time job.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers who knows what they are doing.

    Pros

Management engages with non-management on a regular basis. It's not us and them.

    Cons

Fast growth sometimes hurts quality of performance.

    Advice to Management

    Remember the basics...

I worked at Canteen full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good money. Nice hourly wage. You will earn that money though!

    Cons

The woman in charge doesn't know how to do her job and never takes responsibility for her actions. She is unwilling to listen to another point of view.

Suppose to be 8 hours a day, impossible if you do all that they require. You do everything you get talked to about overtime. You cut corners you get talked to about doing everything correctly. You can't win.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people. They actually do the job and know what that are taking about.

Get more drivers and more trucks. You can't keep adding accounts and throw it on the people already working.

Make the loaders pay attention to what they pull so it's all there and easy to find.

Get a system that gives accurate amounts of products.

I worked at Canteen (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Can't think of any

    Cons

The worst place I've ever worked. Managers are way below scale wah too much favoritism. Raises are way below scale for the work you do.

    Advice to Management

Get people that follow the employee hand book. Treat everyone the same.

I have been working at Canteen full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Canteen is a growing company with immense opportunity for smart, dedicated and hard working people. Incredible support from management, great pay and benefits.

    Cons

My commute is the biggest issue with my position. Also, advancement beyond local management will probably require relocation, but they have operations across the country.

    Advice to Management

Continue the emphasis on hiring, training and promoting quality talent, but be more proactive with employees looking for new challenges within the organization.
