    Pros

The upper school at Canterbury is a great community to work in. The school has gone through a season of change in recent years but has settled in a good place. The administration is supportive of faculty autonomy. For the most part, the students are diligent and honest. Discipline is not a problem for teachers who manage their classrooms.

    Cons

Some parents feels that their investment should include a "right of advocacy", and have attempted to go over this teacher's head with complaints to administration about grades, difficulty, and recommendations for future courses. While parents of this nature make up a minute portion of the community, managing their correspondence and the effects of their complaints can take a significant amount of time.

Administration has been going through significant changes recently, with Head of School and Dean of Students new this academic year. This presents challenges with consistency and effectiveness of student life and discipline.

    Advice to Management

Continue to trust your faculty. Build a long term administration team.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Canterbury School full-time

    Pros

Beautiful campus, most colleagues are great, diverse student body, good relationship the faculty and staff, tuition remission for faculty kids

    Cons

Low morale caused by arrogant administrators (several, not all). Surprise cuts created feelings of lack of job security.

    Advice to Management

Remember the Five Values? There is much resentment that you don't embody or follow them or promote those that do.

    Cons

None that I can think of. The staff is friendly and helpful. Benefits may change from year to year depending on the schools choice of carrier.
