I worked at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The system has the potential to be a great community hospital.

    Cons

Instead of improving the current system, management continues to make multiple purchases to add to the system. This was done at the expense of multiple employees who were laid off after a major hurricane and right before the holidays. Definitely not good for engaging loyal and hardworking employees.

    Advice to Management

Learn and apply true leadership skills throughout the system. Integrity, dignity, trust, competence...these overlapping principles are sadly lacking.

I worked at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center

    Pros

There are some great people who really care here but the ones that fraternize with management, are the only ones that appear to matter. Upper upper management wont make changes that are needed.

    Cons

Managers terrible! Negativity, toxic, They ate letting people go due to expensive e chart software.

    Advice to Management

Get some managers in there that care about patients and employees. The clinic and floor level management are uncaring and negative and take credit for other peoples hard work.

    Pros

    Job security and wonderful colleagues

    Cons

No paid holidays. They take time off of your PTO if you take a holiday off. Micromanagement by department Director creates a hostile work environment.

    Advice to Management

Back off of people who are doing their jobs, and more.

I worked at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There was nothing positive from my experience.

    Cons

    Hostile, discriminatory, cliquey, unprofessional, unsafe

    Advice to Management

Stop the favoritism and stop putting cliques over patient care and safety. Consider the way you speak to employees. Follow the rules set in place by funding organizations to maintain employee safety and patient safety. Consider why there is such a high turn over rate at your institution, except with the managerial positions. Also, hiring freezes do not work, while your management is trying to force their current staff out. Your medical center is filled with on edge, frustrated employees.
