I have been working at Capistrano USD part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Advanced Learning and Curriculum, dedicated teachers, room for growth and development opportunities, in-house training and continued education, positive work environments on all campuses

    Cons

Lower wages compared to neighboring districts, large geographic area, fewer job opportunities, lower community support for additional funding, several older campuses

    Advice to Management

The resume process is difficult with the short answer questions and personality tests, great candidates may be missed.

I have been working at Capistrano USD full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great location and high pay with lots of vacation and time off. Benefits are best.
Some school sites have great administration and programs; others are neglected.

    Cons

Ineffective administrators and teachers remain in their positions to the detriment of students. Lack of oversight from district which has had much turn over. New policies are implemented daily with no reasonable program for implementation. Chaos and waste are the two words that best summarize life at CUSD.

    Advice to Management

Eliminate 9/10 "new" plans/projects, and allow time for teachers and staff to fully implement one idea at a time, evaluate its success, and then see if more changes are necessary, rather than constantly initiating multiple critical changes that negatively affect student achievement.

I have been working at Capistrano USD full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Teachers and staff support each other and most often work together toward common goals.

    Cons

District/board make decisions at times without consulting their own employees that are 'in the midst' of it all.

    Advice to Management

Seek more advice from employees out at the school sites before making decisions that affect them. Think about what is best for students first.
