I have been working at Capita full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible working times. Decent bonus system. Ongoing field training.

    Cons

Work is demanding. Out in all weathers. Dealing with difficult customers. Management indifferent. With poor staff retention rate. Lost colleagues.

    Advice to Management

Take more time to encourage and develop team members. Text a little less and Talk a bit more. Management by remote control. More respect for the customers needed.

I worked at Capita full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities if you're willing to step out of your usual day to day role.

    Cons

Most people TUPE into Capita with no say in the matter. In some cases people carry baggage from the 'employer they deem didn't want them' - which results in them complaining that Capita isn't treating them well! That's draining. That said, you're only a line on a spreadsheet and when the going gets tough - cutting heads often feels like their only go to option.

    Advice to Management

Get on top of managing performance. Work harder at finding the people who have great ideas and help them find their voice. Be tougher on managing out poor performers - they drain their colleagues.

    Cons

An unmitigated disaster of a company, staffed by mediocrity and governed by clowns, administered at the top by voracious and incompetent parasites. Stultifying, mindnumbing and monotonous working enviroment populated in the main by dead eyed drones. They recently anounced they are replacing over 3000 staff with robot having worked there i dont think anyone would tell the differences

    Advice to Management

Get a life you troglodyte jobsworths, deal with truth and reality

I worked at Capita full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

In a massive call centre I could count the good people on one hand, the exit was the only pro

    Cons

picked out as one of 'better ones' thrown into the deepend as floorwalkers With customer service training but 0% product knowledge training. They don't like if your genuinely ill, they push you on 'customer care', and don't support their own staff when they need help,, spent 75% getting abuse from customers. no prospects for going into other departments or opportunities, It's the first company Ive been to where your classed as been late when you are ready to take calls 10-15mins before your shift officially starts, they like to name and shame too

    Advice to Management

give respect to your staff, pay them better, and when they are ill, don't treat them as profit loss when they are ill. get managers who care about their teams, get proper training not just about customer service but training in the product. Managers get my first name right.

    Pros

Pay is good if your advised correctly of your hours

    Cons

Mis-informing recruits of the hours they will work therefore getting people on-board who can't get home at an 11pm finish. Unhelpful attitude when this is brought to attention. Advertising a free shuttle bus that is only available to certain site users

    Advice to Management

A bit more in depth explanation of systems before letting trainees loose on the phones nad expecting them to get it right

    Pros

Varied tasks as an offsite employee and in general the company has a management team which has been promoted on a merit and skill basis.

    Cons

Poorly paid for the role and stresses that come with it.

    Advice to Management

Better basic salary and a performance based bonus system in line with the rest of the FS market.

    Pros

Some really great people, nice offices, good work ethic.

    Cons

Company does not invest in it's people with training etc.
Salary increases only for the chosen few. It's not what you know or how hard you work.....it's who you know and who's backside you can kiss. There is a bit of a jobs for the boys culture.
Lots of remote management which is not great as a lot of the time line managers do not see how hard you work and therefore don't appreciate you (even when the people you work closely with tell them) which can be rather soul destroying and the reason I ended up leaving after giving many years of hard work and dedication.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate those who work hard and take responsibility.
Open your eyes to the LM's who take all the credit for the work others do. Stick to your own values don't just spout about them....live them (like you expect employees to do)

I worked at Capita as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked on a contract for Capita for several years and they seemed to treat contractors well. Interesting project with good people. Would have been a 5 star review if they hadn't moved to a call centre space unsuitable for software development to cut costs.

    Cons

Penny pinching on office equipment, hardware and software licences.

    Advice to Management

Be more open and get to know the permanent members of staff better. Treat people with a bit more respect, e.g. rather than expecting everyone to drop what they are doing because a manager decides that a meeting is necessary send an invite.
