I have been working at Capita full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nationwide presence. Good flex-benefits options. CEO leaving. Good HR admin systems. Generally friendly people. Good CBTs.

    Cons

Low salaries. No performance-related incentives, bonuses or pay-rises. Operates in silos. Poor cost-benefit analysis over implementing travel bans and budgetary cuts whose impact on staff was disproportionate to factional savings. Also inconsistently enforced controls/governance.

    Advice to Management

Appoint an external CEO. Push harder to consolidate business units. Enforce one-Capita culture whereby internal suppliers are no longer mercenary or barriers to doing business and making money for Capita.

    Pros

good company to work, many opportunists to move within company.

    Cons

Pay grade isn't great, if you move within company there is only fixed 10% increment unless you fight for it and that can take upto 6 months to get authorised.

I worked at Capita (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - None tbh
    - Close to central london
    - Office infrastructure

    Cons

    - Poorly Managed
    - Doesn't pay contractors on time
    - Some of the practices were downright immoral ,I knew a manager who wanted to get a piece of work done but did not want to pay high contract rates so he hired a permanent employee on a above market salary and fired him at the end of 6 months probation period after he completed the piece of work .
    - Casual Racism is rife in this workplace

    Advice to Management

Please sort the above cons out
Senior management are completely out of touch with employees

I worked at Capita full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    benefits are good salary OK

    Cons

I worked as senior IT Manager in one of their corporate IT department and have been made redundant just after 5 months. The company is broken, the culture is rotten and CxOs leave the management to a number of incompetents and arrogant Directors that use very questionable management practices at the limit of legality. HR as usual just work for Directors so you won't get any support from them. The most common sentence I heard from employees and colleagues was "it is not my problem". If you like the work you do and wants to progress and learn DO NOT WORK for Capita. BTW colleagues from HR admitted that several positive feedbacks that you find on this website have been purposely done by them to improve the poor rating of the company....

    Advice to Management

    Find yourself another job

I have been working at Capita full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good exposure to work in preparation for the APC. Modern offices. Enjoyment is significantly dependent upon the department you are working with and the Director within the team.

    Cons

No ability to work from home. Very average work/life balance. Offices are modern but lack soul and identity. Environments are very much fee driven with a lack of opportunity to enjoy wider aspects of surveying such as CPD events. Capita's ethos is based around cost cutting and saving money wherever possible - this is reflected in the lack of rewards, lack of salary increases for staff and high staff turnover.

    Advice to Management

It would be good to put faces to names. Senior management are reluctant introduce themselves to graduate-mid tier staff. Generally a poor level of leadership from Capita. Employment structure seems to be very top heavy.
