I worked at Capita full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There was a good work environment and all managers within the office seemed enjoyable to work under. The workload was never overly demanding. Flexible hours.

    Cons

The was poor pay and company benefits with little in terms of career progression. Also whilst study support was available there was no corresponding salary increase.

    Advice to Management

Better pay for most employees with emphasis on some form of performance based pay. Better communication from the top levels of the company would likely lead to increased harmonisation and as a result performance.

I worked at Capita full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is a big group and company policies are clear

    Cons

The company has a culture of penny punching and stinginess in general. They don't invest on employees. They were literally milking the cow, in this case Birmingham City Council. They had positive results year after year, but not a single perk or bonus was ever shared with employees.

    Pros

coffee and tea and British Computer society Qualifications

    Cons

The Novus programme should be avoided. Poor graduates get sold a dream. Capita hardly has any clients, the presentation shown has clients which have dealt with them in the past. After months of training you get qualifications which are the only thing you can show from your time spent there.

You have to self study and pass the exams yourself. The line managers are useless and hardly there.

    Advice to Management

Get a broader client base or end the scheme. Your making graduates waste time and energy attending class room when they could easily study at home.

    I worked at Capita full-time

    Pros

Great if you are proactive, in the right area of the business and know the right people. The range of opportunities available is big if you are in a city or prepared to move around. There are some fantastic and inspiring people.

    Cons

Not enough real thought given to employees and their development to support the business longer term. Corporate communications are awful. Group exec team have lost touch with the people who work for them.

    Advice to Management

Spend a bit of time investing in your people, don't losing training as the first thing from budgets. Internal facing roles matter too. Remember it is people's lives you are impacting.
