I have been working at Capita full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Great people on the administration teams/IT/finance
    - The canteen is ok
    - Some very good clients

    Really struggling now....

    Cons

    - DHP/Nexus have ruined the operations teams
    - No talking, disciplined if too upset and negative, disciplined if too happy and talking.
    - Given a number, not a name (literally)
    - Unrealistic goals. Expected to work harder and faster than possible but it's ok because numbers are the main thing. Quality, customer satisfaction and client relationships do not matter!!!
    - No phones allowed
    - Can't have too many breaks or drinks.
    - Constantly questioned about everything and anything.
    - Management/board do not listen to staff
    - DHP and management speak about individuals and performance on the teams for everyone to hear.
    - DHP brag about their pay to staff.
    - No bonuses, no social events, no chtistmas tree or decorations.
    - Staff are unappreciated and disrespected daily.
    - It's unlikely you will go one day without seeing someone crying in the toilets.
    - It's a horrible place to work

    Advice to Management

Treat your staff like human beings and adults. Appreciate them. Support them. DO YOUR JOB!!!!

I worked at Capita full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very good sense of community within the dealing team

    Cons

Work was repetitive and lots of overtime was required of staff without which the company would have been in serious trouble.

I have been working at Capita full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Capita used to be a good company to work for before Business Management consultants overtook and started causing absolute mayhem.

The only good thing about the company is the people who work there (Although the business seems to think otherwise). The good ones are leaving anyway because people who value themselves won't let any corporation treat them as a number on a spread sheet.

    Cons

If you enjoy being told to work faster, be quiet, no phones and being questioned about every single thing you do in the office then Capita Employee Benefits is the place to be. This is not your typical office job, it has now turned into a production line with a monitor and a keyboard.

Don't expect to be appreciated by the business because you can ALWAYS work faster, better and with no talking (like that time in primary school, remember?).

As a result of the change, Capita now has no good working culture, no Christmas Parties, no social events nothing that you expect from a friendly office (see production line reference above).

    Advice to Management

Listen to the staff. What is the point of having employee surveys, CEO feedback website when no one actually listens and acts like a politician dodging the difficult questions?

I worked at Capita full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very nice colleagues who are quite frankly one of the only positives to be drawn from working for the company.

    Cons

Everything else. There is a 20 word minimum on this comment box so i'll just say that by a considerable margin, the most shambolic, unprofessional company you could ever work for.

    Advice to Management

They wouldn't be interested in listening to your advice even if you provided it. A trainer advised me that he was told that the staff are at their most proactive in the first six months of employment, and from conversations he had had with senior management, he is under the impression that they actively seek a high turn over of staff to keep up this productivity. I.e they couldn't care less if you leave. My advice would be to not bother starting in the first place.

I worked at Capita full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You meet a good bunch of other grads that can also be great contacts after the program, and you are provided with a travel card. Soft skills training was okay

    Cons

unpaid, academic focused program heavily reliant on textbooks and a large online database of e-learning courses, the actual tuition was very poor. there were NO JOBS at the end of it and I was unable to get a job outside of the scheme whilst under contract. Not entirely sure how they can get away with it. Everything i did on the program could of been achieved in half the time with a monthly pluralsight account

I have been working at Capita full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A global corporation with a variety of Businesses and service lines under it's umbrella, with a real mixture of industries.
Lots of internal vacancies to support career development.
Many offices around the UK to reduce travel.

    Cons

Cost focused rather than client, customer or employee focused.
Due to the size of the business, easy for people with the incorrect behaviours and skill level to do their job.

    Advice to Management

Listen to staff and the results of the employee survey to ensure the business changes support the people culture

I have been working at Capita full-time

    Pros

Opportunity to work with many great brands across multiple sites and learn from others, they also have very easy to use administrative systems for the group function which makes areas such as 121's, attendance tracking, and payroll benefits easy to track.

    Cons

There has been a continuing decline in resource available from support functions that are the backbone of this company. Infrastructure are held together with sticking plasters which leave operational functions constantly fire fighting and not delivering the great customer experience which they are capable of doing. Also there is no investment in people to help them progress their careers and keep up to date with the latest way of thinking, unless you form part of the excellent Grad programme they have in place.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your people and give them the time they need to make a difference.
