I have been working at Capita full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of separate businesses to transfer to.

    Cons

Company managed by accountants and every employee is a number on a spreadsheet, and easily expendable. As soon as any business smells trouble staffing is cut even when valuable skill sets are lost.
Low salaries are the norm, way below market rates. Capita plays at employee welfare and likes to portray a positive image which is false.

    Advice to Management

Pay the going rate for staff, genuinely look after them, nurture them and arrest the high churn rates.

I have been working at Capita full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nationwide presence. Good flex-benefits options. CEO leaving. Good HR admin systems. Generally friendly people. Good CBTs.

    Cons

Low salaries. No performance-related incentives, bonuses or pay-rises. Operates in silos. Poor cost-benefit analysis over implementing travel bans and budgetary cuts whose impact on staff was disproportionate to factional savings. Also inconsistently enforced controls/governance.

    Advice to Management

Appoint an external CEO. Push harder to consolidate business units. Enforce one-Capita culture whereby internal suppliers are no longer mercenary or barriers to doing business and making money for Capita.

I have been working at Capita (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There is a great environment in the office I'm based in and I'm lucky enough to be able to visit clients - it is the people I work with that make the job enjoyable

    Cons

There is a distinct lack of career progression within the company, low annual salary reviews which are not performance related despite being told they are and no bonus scheme

I worked at Capita full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The money is a decent pay.you get weekends off which I think would suit most people. The staff are very friendly.

    Cons

You only get 3 days of training which I think isn't enough time to learn the ins and outs of the business. I was also told that I had the job then I went through the training to be told on the last day that I couldn't come back and that I didn't have the job anymore because I failed a test by one mark. In my opinion you shouldn't tell someone they have a job then tell them 3 days later that they no longer have the job anymore. We were never told you needed to pass a test to have the job.

    Advice to Management

Have more training days and stop misleading the people that your employing as it leaves a bad reputation.

I worked at Capita full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    benefits are good salary OK

    Cons

I worked as senior IT Manager in one of their corporate IT department and have been made redundant just after 5 months. The company is broken, the culture is rotten and CxOs leave the management to a number of incompetents and arrogant Directors that use very questionable management practices at the limit of legality. HR as usual just work for Directors so you won't get any support from them. The most common sentence I heard from employees and colleagues was "it is not my problem". If you like the work you do and wants to progress and learn DO NOT WORK for Capita. BTW colleagues from HR admitted that several positive feedbacks that you find on this website have been purposely done by them to improve the poor rating of the company....

    Advice to Management

    Find yourself another job

    Pros

    Good Hours (8-4, 8:30-4:30, 9-5)
    Good Location (Train Station Nearby)
Downtime relaxed during quiet periods (When the management let it be)

    Cons

    Micromanaged to the max!
Poor Bonus Scheme - Nothing to motivate you to go above and beyond
    Insulting "Pay Rises"
Job appears to get less rewarding the longer you're there

    Advice to Management

Recognise and reward employees, Staff turnover is high, do something to keep the good employees happy.
