Current Employee - FedTour Director in Washington, DC

I have been working at Capital Communications Group for more than 6 years

    Pros

I’ve been working with CCG since 2012 and I’ve had a great experience till now. Not only was it a good transition into my current line of work but I can say that I have friends from all walks of life. Being a FedTour Director, I started with a $25 rate and now am getting $55 per hour. Most FedTours are conducted on sundays and we usually get some on weekdays. The manager has been amazing with me and the rest of the team...

    Cons

A few times, I had to remind them to renew my contract. It is true that it takes some time to receive my check sometimes but my contract does state that they have 30 days to send it over. Negative Outlook

I worked at Capital Communications Group for more than 9 years

    Pros

Meet interesting people from around the world. Take them on tours of the city. Strike up friendships and develop relationships sometimes. Get out of the house on a Sunday and get paid for it. Salary range: $30 - $55/hr. Working with the Tours Division Manager has been one of the key reasons that I stayed with the company for as long as I have. I hear good things about his successor. That's your only connection to the...

    Cons

You have to always chase your own paycheck, which is very humiliating. You never ever communicate directly with the two partners/co-owners of the company, because they prefer to keep their distance from their employees, unless they need you or they have a negative client comment or review to sort out with you, something that happens to everyone. The Tours Division Manager is the guy that works with you on a week-to-week...

    Advice to Management

Start taking some active interest in the people that make your business possible in the first place. At the very least, send them an encouraging e-mail, give them a call, find out how they are doing. Stop being so "hands-off" about your own company and actually get engaged. Snap out of the paranoia. You are not the first, nor are you the last to talk about the structure of American government while giving a sightseeing...
