I worked at Capital One as an intern

    Pros

Everyone is very open to answering questions, whether in person, over email, or over Slack. There are a variety of projects that interns work on. There's a very tech company feel in the way people dress and the way the offices are structured. I was randomly invited to a luncheon with someone much further up in management, which was nice because the luncheon was primarily focused on getting feedback from employees. The company cafeteria food is good! For full time employees, it seems like there's a lot of flexibility in working from home, and a lot of understanding surrounding family matters and obligations.

    Cons

The team I was on was made up of foreigners who spoke the same non-English language, and they spoke that very often in the office during our team meetings, etc., so I felt a bit alienated (there was another member of the team who didn't speak the same dialect as them, so at least we were both clueless together).

    Advice to Management

Encourage communication between management and employees.

I worked at Capital One as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Friendly and relaxed culture.
    - Fun intern events.
    - Great compensation.
    - Good "intern projects" (great for resumes)

    Cons

    - A bit too many meetings, although I didn't mind this too much as an intern.

I have been working at Capital One as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Many opportunities to network with VP's and up, many happy hours/events, subsidized food, specific project per intern

    Cons

I had no cons working here

    Advice to Management

It would be a little bit better if every intern had their manager at the same headquarters. For example, I was in McLean with my Manager in Richmond.

I worked at Capital One as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Managers are genuinely interested in how you're doing and how the work is coming. They're generally very lenient if something comes up and I was never encouraged to work overtime to get things finished faster. My internship project wasn't just thrown out--all intern projects are directly useful to the company and larger projects, and I was happy to work on one of these.

    Cons

With my team, there were a lot of meetings. It was difficult to get work done sometimes because there were so many meetings.

    Pros

Infrastructure and logistics for the internship programs are very well established. Salary is highly competitive.

    Cons

Internships are relatively short - 10 weeks.

I worked at Capital One as an intern

    Pros

Great work life balance. Very accepting environment. I had my same sex partner come up to see me and my boss was very ok with me taking an early weekend.

    Cons

We were in another building than the main HQ building, however a week after my internship ended my team got moved to a brand new HQ that was just beautiful and amazing.

    Advice to Management

better or any training to managers about gender diversity in terms of non-binary identities and gender neutral pronouns

    - CEO had a 2 hour talk with all of the interns
    - Senior leadership has a vision and cares about employees

I worked at Capital One as an intern

    Pros

I loved the culture at Capital One. Rank is not a significant factor and people are always willing to help.

    Cons

I didn't receive feedback from my manager as much as I would've liked.

I worked at Capital One as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Recruitment process does a good job with showering you with dinners and gifts if offer is extended
    - Interns get a lot of special treatment, this year we got: trip to Bush Gardens, Incredibles 2 private screening, 2 happy hours, 2 dinners and many tech talks
    - Pay is about as good as it gets for interns
    - Housing is included/payed for (taxes are payed by Capital One too, if you don't take the housing you get a $3000 stipend)
    - Offices are nice and they do a great job making sure you have ample amounts of opportunities to fix problems if there are any
    - You can get an offer for full time if you do a good job

    Cons

    - Your team is very much the deciding factor of how much fun/enjoyable your work is, so if you have a bad team, it can be much less enjoyable team-wise (1 of my friends had a really bad team but the 5 other friends I had had good experiences)
