I have been working at Capital One full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great benefits and working environment

    Cons

Tough to get promoted once you are in the door. The card line of business runs differently than the bank line of business. Many times, the bank channel is still going through their growing pains.

    Advice to Management

Too much talent leaves the door. Give chances to your current associates.

I have been working at Capital One full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Inspiring mission, excellent culture, uplifting team, flexibility in my hours, work I truly enjoy.

    Cons

Not all departments/cultures are as awesome as mine.

    Advice to Management

Learn from each other. Continue making it easier for us to learn from each other, too.

I have been working at Capital One full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work-life balance. Investment in professional growth. Use of latest open source technologies. Friendly work culture.

    Cons

Projects and groups change very quickly. Though that in itself is not a bad thing if you are committed to becoming/being an agile thinker and doer.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

-PTO offered, even for part-time employees.
-Ahead of the curve on technology, and finding creative ways to make work more meaningful and enjoyable.

    Cons

-Really nothing bad to say, other than I wish they had banks in more states. Hopefully that's not too far away, though!

I have been working at Capital One full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Capital One is an incredible place to work! Every day I am surrounded by incredibly bright, innovative people that genuinely care about one another, our customers and our community. I believe that our values, mission and heart are the primary drivers for the company and they put people over profits. The company is an exciting and fast paced place to work, as we are on a journey to become a technology company that offers exceptional Financial Services to people. Money is so integral to our day to day lives-- from buying groceries to saving for college-- and it's important to be part of a company that wants to make managing money a positive and simple experience for people.

In addition, Capital One has awesome work/life flexibility, paid leave, and career advancement. I have had unlimited opportunities for growth since I started with the company-- development through classes and trainings, new roles and promotions, and intentional mentorship. I genuinely believe that Capital One has set me up to do some of the most fun, most valuable work of my career.

    Cons

It is certainly a competitive environment, so you have to be thoughtful about making sure you manage your priorities well. Capital One supports work/life flexibility, but if you arent careful-- working from home and other options can cause you to work too much. Additionally, we are working on becoming more Agile as a company, but I still think it can be hard to get things done. As a federally regulated bank, there are a lot of hoops to jump through that you dont have to deal with at other companies.

    Pros

Hours are flexible and the people are great. There are rarely weeks where you will work more than 40 hours.

    Cons

Can move a bit slow - it's a big bank. Many layers of bureaucracy can get in the way of getting things done.

I have been working at Capital One full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Their health benefits, their 401K, their focus on morale, promotions, development & learning programs, networking opportunities across the entire company, bonuses, and PTO!

    Cons

The pay is fair but competitors are starting to pay their employees significantly more. They organization structure changes a lot. So when you gain trust and rapport with managers and then they have to move and your under a new manager you have to build with them all over again.

    Advice to Management

Keep developing your employees and challenging them. It works!

I worked at Capital One (Less than a year)

    Pros

They offer flexible scheduling, bonuses, and awesome benefits! Management is understanding and will work with you to ensure you can move up.

    Cons

Since most of the jobs in Tampa are call center based, you have to obey call center rules, but management tries to lighten up the atmosphere.
