    Pros

Flexible with schedule. Very competitive salary. Benefits above average. Management is extremely helpful with guidance. Cutlure is amazing. Promotes doing volunteer work for community.

    Cons

It's a very secure environment which makes it a huge learning curve for system admins.

I worked at Capital One full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Collaborative environment where input from employees is highly valued.
    Great people first environment.
    Felt valued as an employee.
Executive management is highly involved but do not "micro manage" sales team.

    Cons

Administrative tasks cut into valuable face to face time with customers.
"Visits logged" goals get in the way of meaningful relationship building goals.

    Advice to Management

Work to create more time for opportunities to interact directly with customers.

I worked at Capital One (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - The people! Really smart people with humility and openness.
    - Challenging work. The credit card business area is infinitely complex with macro- and micro-economic factors, human behavior, and risk that all needs to be under consideration in decision-making
    - Flexibility. Although with colocation and agile becoming an ever-present trend in how the teams work, there is flexibility in work hours and remote work depending on the role and team. Leadership is also very supportive of personal growth (within reason) so moving to new functions or business lines is commonplace and promoted.
    - Parental leave. Capital One recently extended it's PTO for both maternity and paternity leave and is an industry leader in the US private company space
    - Extra benefits. Team fun events, occasional dinner/lunches at the office, and onsite gyms with optional PT sessions in Richmond, Plano, and Mclean were nice extras to have.

    Cons

    - Office locations. While some more tech/digital roles are moving to city center locations (e.g. Clarendon - closer to DC, San Francisco, and New York), it is a long commute if you work in McLean HQ and want to live in DC proper.
    - Varying hours, without varying pay. Teams, work style, and hours differ depending on where you sit in the business and how time critical or significant work is. However, there isn't pay differentiation between a senior analyst in one role working 40 hours per week or one working 60 hours per week. Performance/bonus/promotions are more dependent on competencies and results.

    Pros

Excellent vulture and values, education and advancement opportunities, employee recognition and appreciation programs are above and beyond, diversity and inclusion, excellent benefits

    Cons

See below in reccomendations to management about flexible work arrangements for weorking parents.

    Advice to Management

Consider being more flexible with work schedules and arrangements for parents. The company boast about having flexible work arrangements and doing the right thing but when push came to shove they lost a valuable single parent employee because their child was ill and backup care had no one available that day.

I have been working at Capital One full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Culture
    Pay
    Development opportunities
Opportunities to give back to the community
Work/Life balance (for the most part)
    Campus amenities (over the top)

    Cons

Yearly performance management process - knowing that you're up against your teammates/friends at the end of the year, and wanting to make sure that you end up in a higher "bucket" than them is outdated and harmful.

    Advice to Management

Scrap the current performance management process; everyone knows how terrible it is (including you!)

    Pros

Capital One is an excellent employer. They valued diversity and work life balance. Pay and benefits are on par with many large financial institutions.

    Cons

The location you work at is important. Some Capital One offices are out of favor with management.
