I worked at Capital One full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Capital One as a corporation takes great care of their employees, offers a good work-life balance, and while the pay could be better the benefits are top-notch.

    Cons

Branch managers are incompetent, selfish, vindictive and do not support their staff. They claim all the credit for their employees' hard work but will throw them under the bus in a heartbeat if they feel the heat from middle management or customers.

    Advice to Management

Get better local managers. Capital One is a great company but it will be hard for you to recruit and retain top talent with such horrible branch managers.

I worked at Capital One (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay checks were great until the the head guy started to investigate. Some lo's were making $400,000 a year and yet the department was losing close to a billion a year. Of course the party came to rapid end but a lot of reverse discrimination takes place. The CFO is of Indian decent and henceforth so are all of the managers, regardless of their qualifications, were of similar descent.

    Cons

Poor management, lack of vision, lack of portfolio, loss making department since inception, lofty and realistic goals.

    Advice to Management

If your vision is a customer centric approach, the same should be true regarding your employees. Get "real" managers regardless of race who understand how to treat all people with dignity and respect that have actually done the job in hand

I worked at Capital One full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Cap one has excellent benefits, PTO, monthly incentives, etc. Also tuition reimbursement and a nice corporate office; paid days to have fun for team building

    Cons

To advance in that company is such a struggle. They truly embody the idea of kissing butts to get ahead. Superiors are afraid of your greatness and like to keep you down if they believe you have a lot of potential to grow. A lot of overworking and underpaying. Be prepared to wear a lot of hats which can be beneficial however delegating work because you have too much work due to a chaotic business model is crazy! They are almost militant. They try blinding you with a culture like you matter when they truly have the same goal of any firm, to maximize profit. They will lead you on to believe you are doing great work but then pass you over for someone less qualified because they may be easy to manipulate. Worse thing than a boss who doesn't care is a boss who acts like they care just because they feel like it's their job. Most employees are dissatisfied and feel pressured in a lot of ways.
