I have been working at Capital One full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, diversity driven, and AMAZING people to work with! A variety of development opportunities to attain certifications.

    Cons

There are constant reorganizations of departments within the company which don't give you enough stability with the constant layoff for tenured associates.

    Advice to Management

Be diversified and help develop your associated versus only looking to move yourself the corporate ladder. If you take care of your people they will produce awesome results!

I worked at Capital One full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good employee benefits, Fast moving in technology

    Cons

too many, too frequent restructuring and massive lay offs spread over months. Too much internal Politics, Promotion is hard unless you have a mentor in leadership

    Advice to Management

    1. Reduce lay offs and restructuring so often, you are playing with people with super tough hiring process and then lay off in months and year.
    2. Diversify, too much politics and favoritism is not good
    3. When you explain your strategy to people and people are learning new things on job to move in that direction for business success, it is not very thoughtful to have a layoff for same reason suddenly. Value people because you hire the best so it is equally important to retain them and train them. Please do not create a revolving door where one batch leaves and another batch is hired

I have been working at Capital One full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits begin immediately. Many employees that do care about customers .

    Cons

Favoritism decides how you rank, your incentive and score. If your over 40 seldom receive promotion or advance to career of your choice no matter prior experience or desire or hard work. Opportunities made for management cliches. Getting vacation days is everyone not in top percentage bidding like a lottery on a computer system that isn’t reliable. Management seldom knows or understands the job of the people they are managing , they just follow reports they made up that doesn’t fit the job and your brand is how well you socialize with management.

    Advice to Management

Be professional, understand your employees jobs, stop playing favoritism. Hire management that has worked in the financial institute rather than selling cell phones for att or verizon. Realize those over 40 rely on earning a living because they do have a mortgage and responsibilities and bills. Follow EEOC and ADA laws and stop bullying and retaliation.
