I have been working at Capital Region Medical Center full-time

    Pros

Flexible hours and good personal skills training

    Cons

Staff have too much on their plate. Senior management is too busy to follow up with their employees in a timely manner and it makes it appear that they don't care

    Advice to Management

Hire more people to evenly spread out the work so that people don't have to scramble each day.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Capital Region Medical Center (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly staff, great physicians to work with. Great sense of belonging and pride in my work here. So many good resources and educators to help with issues.

    Cons

HR Dept. is horrible to get in contact with. If you don't know someone on the inside, you will likely have trouble getting a phone call after applying.

    Advice to Management

Improve your HR Dept. Be careful of managers that tend to push out seasoned nurses and hold up for new graduates. Managers can make or break a unit.

  7. "Registered Nurse"

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Capital Region Medical Center (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I've been with the hospital for over 15 years and enjoy the staff, although it seems like there are more and more new faces every day and that they are not retaining old employees

    Cons

Don't expect to retain staff if you are paying someone with less years and experience more than someone who has been there for years. New graduates come in making what a 10 year nurse is making or more. Don't value dedication and hard work.

    Advice to Management

Worry only about numbers and not making staff happy

  8. "Progressive organization focused on improving the patient experience."

    Pros

Focus on patient experience, quality metrics, employee engagement and fiscal responsibility.

    Cons

As like all other healthcare organizations, fiscal challenges are a con.

    Advice to Management

    Continue pursing employee engagement.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Its like a family working for a community hospital. The wages are competitive. The equipment is up to date and up and coming.

    Cons

I cant think of anything at this time that I dont like about the facility or management. My experience has been a good one.

  10. "Overall the company treats employees well. Reasonable benefits and additional bonuses."

    Pros

Hospital staff are like family. Majority of the staff and Doctors are down to earth, approachable and friendly.

    Cons

Departmental communication is dreadful. Supervisors are over loaded with reports and meetings. Face to face interactions with supervisors is very rare. It appears that management are always scrambling at the last moment to meet goals which puts added pressure on staff to rush project's that have been put off for months.

    Advice to Management

    Improve communication.
