    I worked at CapitalSource full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    A decent paycheck. They used to provide breakfast every morning but they took that away. It's possible to learn but you have to teach yourself due to managers not being knowledgable.

    Cons

    Zero training. Poor leadership. Bad people. Boring culture. Inhuman resources.

    A workplace that will really drain the life out of you.

    Advice to Management

    Replace upper management. Hire qualified people into leadership roles. Add human beings into the human resources department.

    - Disgruntled disabled military veteran that was not granted reasonable accommodation and left unemployed midway thru recovery from surgery.

    Pros

    can be good if you are in the right group.

    Cons

    lot of turnover because they do not promote from within. Bureaucratic. Most of the talent has left the commercial lending / origination teams. No training. No real organization structure.. Bad upper and middle management since merger. lower then average pay unless you are VP or higher.

    Advice to Management

    treat employees better to avoid the high turnover rates. new hires are lacking because pay is too low.

    Pros

    Not a proactive, cohesive working environment, No work Life balance. Rampant employee burnout.

    Cons

    They run short staffed and those who are there work in a pressure cooker. Little to no management communication or staff support.

    Take care of and listen to your employees or continue to lose them.

    Pros

    Was able to move up in the organization. Small division worked in. able to work freely in own environment.

    Cons

    Merged with larger bank and issues with Merger. Not a competitive product compared to the competition in the marketplace.

    Advice to Management

    More competitive products. learn how to adapt more to the marketplace in real time, being proactive rather than reactive.

    Pros

    Good pay and even better benefits. The commercial lending service is a solid product I felt good about providing to our clients.

    Cons

    Office politics create a hostile work environment. Managers often speak bad about other employees and other managers to their employees. Employees are encouraged to spy on each other and report back to managers. Yelling at employees in an open forum happened occasionally. Policies would change by verbal announcement by management then reverted six months later or even forgotten that they were changed. No written procedures.

    Advice to Management

    Show solidarity in leadership. Pull employees aside to speak to them about problems. Have clear and specific policies and procedures for employees to follow. Don't obviously show favoritism to individual employees.
