I worked at Capitol Federal Financial full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

At the location I worked the employees worked well together and all got along. The branch manager was extremely supportive. The job itself was easy and stress free but had it’s moments of craziness.

    Cons

The pay is below average for a bank. The company is cheaply run often not upgrading systems or providing necessary equipment. Very stingy.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your employees and equipment.

I worked at Capitol Federal Financial part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They have great schedule flexibility and pay rate.

    Cons

Not a big enough company to be promoted

I have been working at Capitol Federal Financial full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    In-stores have a relaxed environment
    Learned a lot here
    Great people
    Healthcare is somewhat affordable
    Benefits are improving
Upper management does seem to care for at least the leaders in the branches
In-store hours are FINALLY changing and improving
Overall, I simply love coming to work everyday

    Cons

No one ever leaves - no room for advancement and won't move key positions from Topeka to KC Metro
Pay - while the environment is nice and the jobs are decent the pay is under what the average pay is in the KC area- this is true for ALL positions within the company and upper management will not admit that it is a problem
Politics - like any job there are a certain amount of politics involved but if you work hard and put yourself out there you can progress at least to Assistant Manager
In-store hours are always awful but at least they are improving in a month or so
Capfed will build a million dollar building in Lawrence, sponsor countless companies and events, but don't pay their employees enough to stay around
Work-Life Balance is awful for in-stores; older people who have been with the bank for 10+ years have so much PTO that it's tough to find coverage for vacations and nearly impossible to plan longer trips where flying is involved; just really tough.

    Advice to Management

Advancement Opportunities - create more opportunities for advancement; we know you have the space at Nall Hills to do it
Pay - the first step is admitting you have a problem; understand that the reason you lose employees is not because of anything other than pay. I have watched countless employees walk out of your doors because you won't pay them enough or their just aren't any opportunities for advancement to make more. Most of us want houses, children and lives just like you do and we can't do that making the weak salaries you give us without staying for 20+ years.

I have been working at Capitol Federal Financial full-time

    Pros

Regional management cares about employees. Flexible work schedules. Good pay and benefits.

    Cons

Internet access is slow. Wireless access is extremely limited. Some positions are excluded from having access to outside e-mail and internet access. Upper management in Topeka is out of touch with employees outside of home office.

    Pros

Willing to work with your schedule. Good benefits even for part time employees. Simple job requiring little effort with good hours.

    Cons

Moves employees with little notice and without the employees input/ consideration. This throws off the work dynamics and relationships between employees. Pay is poor relative to other banks.

    Advice to Management

Pay valued employees based on their worth and work ethic. Take employees thoughts into consideration when moving them.
