    Pros

Lots of training in sales and you can make about 1800 dollars every other week if you work hard.

    Cons

You get two days off a week of which you have to come in during those days or you lose half of your commission .You get a one weekend every four weeks.

    Advice to Management

I would but they would not listen.

I worked at CarMax full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Business Office - fun team-builders, opportunities for community service, ok training (you learn better by completing task rather than reading your handbook). Exciting Auctions.

    Cons

As a BOA, you are not salaried and make the least hourly compared to the other departments. You do not get paid for the amount of work you have to do. Usually understaffed so ones workload increases. When you are asked to travel to another store, receiving your money back takes too long for the trouble, so I would encourage you to decline unless they offer you to drive a company car.

    Advice to Management

    Learn what leadership is. PLEASE.

I have been working at CarMax full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Reasonable compensation, Good benefits, Flexible Scheduling

    Cons

Scheduling-no one wants to work nights/weekends, People who are not ready for management positions are promoted while hard workers are over-looked, Compensation is not commensurate with the production of the business, overworked

    Advice to Management

Focus more on personality when hiring employees, too many applicants interview well but when placed into office setting there are too many different personalities and no diversity development. Move people up who deserve it, not because they are your buddy or have been employed there for a long time.

I have been working at CarMax part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Decent starting pay rate
    -Flexible hours for part time
-Get to drive some awesome cars

    Cons

-Standards will be "lowered" in order to meet production goals
-Inventory has far too many responsibilities for one department
-Work is outside so be prepared to be jumping in cars that have 140 degree plus interior temperatures
-At my store, overtime is not allowed and will/can be a punishable offense
-Half the time, our department is missing materials that are needed to do job
-Inventory department is a dead end job with little chance of career advancement

    Advice to Management

Pitch in when production is falling behind instead of telling staff to make sure everything "passes"
