I worked at CarMax part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The training program is impeccable, by the end you're confident enough to use your tools and resources to be the best employee you can be. They have a tuition reimbursement which is great if you're a college student like me. Pay was great and really flexible with the schedule. You really get out what you put in.

    Cons

Working part time can limit the amount of money you make as a sales consultant, once you reach your hours you have to split deals, but it's understandable

    Advice to Management

    You're going great

I have been working at CarMax full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are alot of great people here. Training is fun and you are allowed to have your phone on the work floor.

    Cons

Benefits and pay are not the best. The company as a whole is not on the same page. Employees dont get the recognition they deserve. Also the hours make is almost impossible to maintain a home and social life.

I have been working at CarMax full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Selection process brings in great people to work with.
Majority of my peers will help any time I ask.

    Cons

Lack of consideration for workload demanded.
Little opportunity to implement meaningful change.

    Advice to Management

The company takes time and uses great effort to hire smart, capable people. Believe in those people's capabilities. Be open to suggestions for improvement. Instead of using rhetoric, "We know the workload is too much. I couldn't do your job.", give consideration when grading results produced.

I have been working at CarMax part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Discount on labor service & parts for your car. A lot of advancement opportunities available

    Cons

The CSR position does everything. There is a lot that you have to learn in training, which you will be quizzed on at the end of training and if you don't not pass you will get the job. No vacation, medical or dental benefits for part time.

    Pros

CarMax Auto Finance is a great place to work. Voted a top 100 company for the last several years for a reason. They offer an amazing work life balance coupled with a culture that is second to none.

    Cons

Some positions can be a little bottle necked however, plenty of areas in the business to transfer if desired for that next step up.

    Advice to Management

You have amazing talent, keep you eyes and ears open to promote within.

I worked at CarMax full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Culture, Engagement, Team Building -amazing opportunity for those beginning their career wanting to get their foot into the door of the corporate world - a significant amount of opportunity to learn and self develop if ambitious enough

    Cons

Culture based on department, lack of management based on department, Sr. Management have different views of development, lack of opportunity for growth (appears there is a significant amount at time of hire, however once employed you realize fairly quickly that it takes a significant amount of time (7-10 years) to move into a position in which your skills, the job responsibility and work load reflect your compensation. The company is big on making lateral moves with no pay increase for an increase in responsibility. No work/life balance, company will tell you as an exempt employee you have unlimited vacation - but frowned upon when use - not closed on holidays for positions that pay well.
