    Pros

There are alot of great people here. Training is fun and you are allowed to have your phone on the work floor.

    Cons

Benefits and pay are not the best. The company as a whole is not on the same page. Employees dont get the recognition they deserve. Also the hours make is almost impossible to maintain a home and social life.

    Pros

Company has strong sales for job security. Challenging and fast paced. Great management training program with clear milestones to achieve company goals.

    Cons

Long hours and schedule can change in less than a day. Very hard to plan events with family or have hobbies. Salaries can make it difficult to live off of in new markets out west.

I worked at CarMax full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The compensation is moderate, but could be better. In some CA you have a minimum salary, which is helpful for when you have a bad pay period.

    Cons

Management is not cohesive and doesn't care about your development even though it is what they preach before you get hired.

    Advice to Management

Managers need to be more consistent across regions

I worked at CarMax full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Many benefits, tuition reimbursement, health, dental, great 401k, stock purchase program. Great training, many stores nation wide. Can transfer were you need to

    Cons

Hard to move past first level management, promoted with in the company not as strong as I feel it should be.

    Advice to Management

OMS for large stores is counter productive. This company needs to revisit and restructure OMS for the top ten to twenty larger stores.

I have been working at CarMax full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Never a dull moment in my department.

    Cons

Below market average pay and increasing responsibilities and challenges.

    Advice to Management

Quality over quantity when it comes to staffing. Filling positions with bodies to simply staffing target will not help the company hit goals. Pay those that have tenure and excellent performance more than new hires.
