    Pros

CarMax really takes care of its associates. They are all about development and promoting from with-in. Great benefits!!! Everything you could ever want. From medical, dental, vision to anEAP program that includes grants for associates in need of financial help.

    Cons

A lot is expected of you. You are expected to do your job and do it well. For some, little supervision is ideal, but some associates need to be watched more so there everyone is doing the same amount of work, as opposed to someone having to pick up the slack.

I have been working at CarMax full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pros as a company are they're wonderful to work for. They have great volunteer events, and everyone there feels like family. I don't have anything bad to say about the company at all.

    Cons

Sometimes, I don't feel that the managers that are hired are exactly the best that they could be. A manager once told an employee that they would help them succeed in their growth at CarMax, and then told other co-workers of that said employee that they did not think the employee had what it took to continue on in the program. Then, nothing was done to help the employee further their career, thus making them have to find another job just to be able to make more money and go somewhere where they're able to grow.

    Advice to Management

Please never hold back your employees from growing within the company. It is essential that employees can learn and grow from you, and you may end up losing a very valuable and well-rounded individual if you do not allow them to grow in the company if that's what they wish to do.

I worked at CarMax full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

An extensive and great training program.
Nice atmosphere and code of conduct among employees. Management did well engaging its employees and getting lots of pizza parties for them.
    I️ don’t eat pizza though

    Cons

The company makes you take training refreshers constantly, Weekly meetings and makes you answer the phones for 3hrs a few times a week. The Only way you get paid is if you sell a car or buy someone’s car and that can’t be done while doing everything else required.
I’ve only listed a few requirements here. Believe me there is more. I️ felt sorry for my fellow salespeople working in those conditions. It didn’t take me long to figure out it wasn’t for me. I️ refuse to work for a billion dollar company for free. This is only in the Nevada location. I️ hear the California locations don’t get away with that.

    Advice to Management

    Pay people what there worth.
