    Pros

The products have the potential to make such a difference in Healthcare, it was great when they were implemented well. The majority of people who work there are very dedicated and great people to work with.

    Cons

The constant change. Seperate companies mergered into Microsoft HSG, and then Caradigm as joint venture with GE, and now just GE, has meant the vision has been lost and key products have been under invested in and under valued.

    Advice to Management

Merge with GE Healthcare fully and invest in using the IAM products to make the Centricity products and CIP a fully integrated solution. Some of the Centricity products have the built in ability to integrate with IAM already, just due to the mergers and changes, this integration that was added 10+ years ago has been forgotten. CIP and IAM are both amazing product sets and could be healthcare world leaders (again ).

I worked at Caradigm full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

it's so hard to find work that's truly rewarding. at caradigm, you get to build stuff that can literally save lives. it's nobler work than i've ever done in my career.

    Cons

morale across the company is currently low. work life balance is taking a nosedive- it used to be good, but now there's too much work for too few people.

    Advice to Management

nobody's buying that caradigm has any chance of real success now. every employee, developers and managers alike, sees the inevitable slide into maintenance mode. attrition is going to continue as people leave for brighter pastures (eg. me). you're not going to be able to convince the workers that caradigm can do well, so they won't be invested. they think the ship is sinking, they're just concentrating on surviving.

you can be honest about the future of the company, stop selling the product, and just move to maintenance for the customer load. we can't really handle the current load right now- anybody additional means even worse service. as is, it doesn't even seem worth supporting our current software. at this point, developers regularly have to fix bugs in parts of the product they've never seen before, because the people who know have left or are stretched too thin. we have talented developers, but it takes them so long to do this. i hate making excuses to customers, but we're going to be making a lot more.

in retrospect, i just don't understand how the layoffs were conducted. caradigm fired the people working on services- who had customer facing roles and knew how to fix their issues. did you not figure out that you were left with so few people that the developers/managers would just become a much worse, more expensive, services team? that's not what they're best at doing.

i really want to work on this population health solution. i think it can be good and make a difference and make money. i don't think caradigm will ever make that product. maybe GE could take the knowledge and expertise that caradigm has and redirect it into new things? it'd be very hard to hire a group of people with as much knowledge of the health care domain and as much experienced developing software applications as those at Caradigm.

right now, you're just not utilizing an extremely talented group of people well and they'll leave because of it. hard to imagine that's a good call.

    Pros

Good freedom of space ...atleast when I was employed there....few very good talented people ... others just looking to bulSsit and impresss their bosses... good facilities ... but I heard that it became worst....

    Cons

Make sure the management is transparent in letting the people know where the company is heading... CEO sounds like a pro but he is not .... Management seems to be working very hard but they are not ..... couple of project I heard were so pathetic not sure who uses or wants those products.... its a big fight between GE folks and Microsoft folks in the end the employees suffer due to layoffs

    Advice to Management

No Advice ....cut the crap and decide what you want to do right now with your furniture and hardware... hope that helps
