    I worked at Caraustar full-time

    Pros

    Good pay and bensefit package

    Cons

CEO is a hire and fire guy. Put extra emphasis on 'fire'. The culture has been deteriorating over the past few years under his leadership.

I have been working at Caraustar full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I really can't say anything bad about this company. My managers are great and they allow me to be creative and respect my input. Caraustar is the best company that I have worked for. I can't speak for the plant locations, but working in the corporate office has been great.

    Cons

I can't think of anything. I've worked for several companies and this one is the best by far. You get out what you put in .

    Advice to Management

Do whatever it takes to retain your best talent, whether it be at the plant or corporate level.

I have been working at Caraustar full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They hire anyone literally, nobody gets turned down.

    Cons

Prepare to be worked like a dog. Good Ol' Boy politics/buddy system in full effect.Bathrooms are a biological hazard. HR is not looking out for you, they are there for the company and playing safety police seeking for any reason to get you fired. Any inquiries to HR will be replied to by giving you the company website. Promotions are given out based on your prosterior kissing skills or how many D.U.I.'s you can rack up in a calendar year. DON'T WORK HERE!

    Advice to Management

Try harder to keep your long term employees that are leaving faster than you can replace them. Offer advancement opportunities based on years of service, not who plays golf or goes hunting together. Return Christmas bonuses to hourly employees.

    I worked at Caraustar full-time

    Pros

Good Pay, interesting product, environmental story to tell.

    Cons

Micro Managers, systems are cumbersome, lock step in a sales technique that has some merit but can come off abrasive, over kill on meetings and sales training, they psycho analysis each other and the customer.

    Advice to Management

Concentrate on providing, a good product, ship on time and complete, concentrate on customer delight, not on what you can get away with.

    I worked at Caraustar full-time

    Pros

I have no pros for working at this company

    Cons

This was absolutely the worst company I have ever worked for. If they are recruiting you, RUN in the opposite direction. They have absolutely no processes, SOPs, or any type of structure in place. Safety and Quality are a joke and they care absolutely nothing about you.

    Advice to Management

    Fire everyone and start over

I worked at Caraustar full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a great place to learn how to work hard and how to manage people if you work your way up.

    Cons

I hated every minute of it. The supervisor and boss always had problems with everyone around and made life miserable. I only stayed as long as I did because the job market was terrible.

    Advice to Management

Pull the stick out of your butt and start treating your employees with some dignity. Maybe if you stopped talking down to them constantly, you might get some decent work out of them.
