    Pros

Laid back... but it's changing... turning into a SunTrust...

    Lots of firing...
    No promotions from inside...

"Cardinal is an excellent, well-performing bank that could use a few internal improvements."

    Pros

    - community feel
    - conservative banking culture ensures good management and sound practices
    - small size allows customers direct access to decision makers

    Cons

    - employees could be managed better: more back office support, better performance review processes
    - decisions are often based on who you know
    - conservative nature can be arbitrary

    Advice to Management

Offer benefits that would cost the company little such as flextime; institute more formalized performance review process; hire more assistants and back office support; reduce workloads on key individuals (and reduce risk of those individuals leaving). Reinvest profits into website upgrades and increased compensation.

I worked at Cardinal Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great team atmosphere, very positive and supportive. Cardinal Bank was an excellent platform for many to learn, grow, and succeed.

    Cons

As with any organization, favoritism and clique-ish tendencies can arise, creating resentment among colleagues, often unnecessarily. Advancement from within, though possible and encouraged, can seem less than rewarding with marginal compensation increases.

    Advice to Management

Management was a strong point I found in my experience, (at least in my case) with my managers allowing me mostly free reign to succeed or fail under my own power.

    - Low pay compared to peers
