I worked at Cardiovascular Research Foundation full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The best vacation policy anywhere. Generally low stress work environment.

    Cons

The senior physician leadership run the organization in a somewhat clueless manner. The executive level leaders who are responsible for running the day to day business are useless and consistently undermined by physician leadership. Very low company morale considering the benefits and work environment.

    Advice to Management

Physician should extricate themselves completely from business and strategy decisions.

I have been working at Cardiovascular Research Foundation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

As most employees aren't interested in their jobs, the work-life balance is quite good. Pay is also better than average (in my experience), and benefits are very competitive Performance reviews are perfunctory, so you will always be rated excellent. Impossible to be fired.

    Cons

Lack of any professional development. Little to no possibility of advancement beyond pay increases and title changes. Many long-term employees in positions beyond their abilities. Director and managers encourage dysfunction to keep attention off actual performance.

    Advice to Management

Reorganize. Recognize those who are succeeding. Action is needed to end the culture of unaccountability and just repeating what was done before. Unfortunately, due to the leadership of the organization, a cultural shifts have been actively discouraged and are likely impossible.

Location in mid town New York. Most of the line staff employees are friendly and cooperative. Overall employees are nice

    Advice to Management

Take some management and diversity courses and learn to deal with different personalities and cultures. Company management needs diversity training

    Pros

Staff is friendly, intimate work environment. Knowing your research will help people in need. Working for a non for profit.

    Cons

Working for a non for profit. Salary is very low compared to comparable jobs. Depending on your job you may not be able to advance unless you have an advanced degree.

    Advice to Management

Recognize your employees for their accomplishments. Too often people's hard work goes unnoticed. Motivate your employees more often by offering better incentives.

close to the train and good shopping during lunch breaks

    Cons

The management is terrible. Unless you are a doctor you do not really have a say, you are more like a peasant.

    Advice to Management

Instead of making your interns schedule meetings all day why don't you treat them with respect and teach them things,
