I have been working at Care Ambulance Service full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Honestly you're getting the experience you want as an EMT from this company, this is a stepping stone job it's not a place anyone wants to be forever. Very professional company, pretty good benefits, accrued PTO, they will work with your schedule, not hard to float by without getting in trouble. Overtime is usually always available.

    Cons

Everyone wants the same days off for testing, biddles, and interviews. They will work with your schedule but they will not bend any rules. If you mess up at this company they have no problem firing you and and ruining any dreams of being a firefighter. Pay is currently getting better but still not that great. You're expendable and they let you know that from the start. Extremely big company and always hiring.

    Advice to Management

some operation managers go visit the shifts they are managing and keep up with supplies, and make sure rigs are clean, and get to know the crews they manage, but many of them don't do that at all and that's what this company needs

I have been working at Care Ambulance Service full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

911 experience, decent benefits, company is growing fast and some managers are very helpful and nice. $30 a paycheck for kaiser insurance and $8 a paycheck for dental is pretty good. You can get on a 911 shift right away if you are willing to work 11hr overnight shifts. Training is pretty thorough.

    Cons

Terrible pay for what we do. We make .50 cents over minimum wage. Old equipment in LA County, rigs with well over 200,000 miles on them and some even have roach problems. You heard me right, cockroaches in an ambulance. You are basically a taxi driver for LACoFD and for people who don't know the difference between a cough and respiratory distress. But if you are familiar with LA County EMS, you are already aware of this. Not much room for advancement, FTO is about as far as you will go. Operations and Division managers always find something wrong with you, you will be watched every second you are working.

    Advice to Management

We are not "just EMT's" we are the fundamentals of your business. Mangers should be there to help and guide you, not to find something to write you up for.

I worked at Care Ambulance Service (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good people, good benefits, good opportunity to get hands on experience quickly.

    Cons

Like any EMT job in Southern CA the pay is not that great and with the size of the company now you are bound to work with some subpar EMT's.

    Pros

I was hired immediately. Flexible hours. No real experience necessary.

    Advice to Management

Create incentive to keep veteran employees and to reduce the turnover rate.

I have been working at Care Ambulance Service full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great 911 experience
Everyone tries to help everyone (to an extent)
Plenty of OT to go around
Coworkers generally care about people, strong bonds are made
Management cares about you and tries to help if you make the effort initially

    Cons

People are often hesitant to help with shifts because they've been burned before
Management jumps to worst case scenario and will discipline accordingly
    Scheduling is sometimes inflexible

    Advice to Management

Flexible scheduling, you know this isn't a long term job for most. We have plenty of staffing to be more flexible
