I have been working at Care New England full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Nice people, good salary, okay benefits.

    Cons

IS Department is top heavy. 3 Chiefs, 3 Directors, and a number of managers under them. No communication, staff is overworked and the department is not staffed properly.

    Advice to Management

Lots of unhappy workers. Hold everyone accountable, don't be afraid to let staff go that are not pulling their weight (including C-Level and Directors in IT). Someone should do a deep dive in this department. Talking to the employees in this department will be eye opening.

I worked at Care New England full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good health benefits, vacation, and sick days; dedicated staff; well maintained buildings

    Cons

Major layoffs/terminations due to budget cuts, poor retention of staff, upper management is disjointed and makes decisions without information from managers or staff, repetition of management errors due to constant changing staff; lack of union protection in all areas of the company

    Advice to Management

Retain experienced/educated managers to maintain a higher quality of care; improve communication between upper management and managers/staff; improve wage increases for staff; provide positive and supportive training and appreciation for staff; promote educated staff to management; improve educational opportunities and reimbursement for staff

I have been working at Care New England full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers. Friendly environment among peers. Supervisors and low level management care about their co-workers. Working from home is sometimes an option.

    Cons

Where to begin. The VP's and C-Level execs at CNE are the most autocratic, uncaring individuals I have ever worked with. Especially the newly appointed VP's of HR, IT and Compliance. They keep dossiers of employees to make the current need of reducing the size of the workforce an easier task. Good, talented people have been let go for minor mistakes or not reaching goals set for them with impossible due dates.

    Advice to Management

Recognize that the directive to "reduce the workforce" before the merger agreement with Partners can proceed is just evil. You are destroying dedicated employees careers while you pocket huge bonuses.

I worked at Care New England full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Co-workers become like family after a while

    Cons

Unstable job security. Leadership has run community hospitals into the ground, lies about corporate take over, and info is on a need to know - and you don't need to know. Salaries for non-union are stagnant, no opportunities for advancement or training, they do not promote from within and bullies are enabled, not dealt with. All former management who cared about RI jobs for RI citizens have been pushed out. It's an outside company guiding the take over process and most non-patient services are being outsourced.

I worked at Care New England (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great co workers, decent benefits, close to home

    Cons

Having to use your own PTO to get paid for holidays--never seen this any other hospital, unskilled middle manager with bad attitude, intimidated many employees

    Advice to Management

Be sure all your managers have supervisory experience and if they don't it should be mandatory that they get training.

I have been working at Care New England full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Easy commute, really nice co workers, decent benefits for now.

    Cons

No staff, I'm constantly on call. Upper management micromanages and then screw's up. They expect everyone else to fix their mess. Dennis Keefe needs to leave he is terrible and the reason we are failing.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of Dennis. Fix this mess you made and listen to employees.
