    Pros

Flexible Schedule Benefits are quite nice Ability to work from home sometimes

    Cons

This company was purchased by Blue Shield of CA and put pressure on management to have unrealistic goals set on staff.

    Pros

Great Help Desk willing to go the extra mile to ensure you got your job done!

    Cons

They got too busy with the sale to Blue Shield and forgot all the promises made. Benefits....costly but I guess they covered all they needed to.

    Advice to Management

Ensure communication takes place with all staff; not just provide a dog and pony show but come through with what is said. Many times, at town hall mtgs we could tell everything was not said in truth. Let's be honest!

I worked at Care1st Health Plan

    Pros

The company has embraced a fair amount of remote working ("telecommuting.") and seems to offer a fair amount of flexible work scheduling.

    Cons

As the title says, for many aspects of this company (especially IT), they are understaffed. IT systems are constantly breaking and it's like being in the Sorcerer's Apprentice trying to keep the systems on their feet - most of which weren't even developed by real programmers ... just power-user hacks. If you thought the olden days of the mainframe were bad, Care1st takes the cake. Piles and piles of horrendous code....

    Advice to Management

    1) Instead of hiring incompetent outside contractors who know next to nothing about software development to manage senior-level engineers, try hiring someone with a technical background who A) Actually understands software engineers and B) Isn't an immature, power-mad tyrant. 2) Instead of piling on more work than any one person can feasibly handle, try ADDING STAFF. 3) Try leading by example, rather than merely oppressing...
