I have been working at CareFlite full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company, very competitive with pay and enjoy the work. Tons of overtime to work if you need the money. Management is always willing to do what they can to help and talk to you about issues. There is always room for continuing education.

    Cons

Negative co-workers and other negative employees who seem to hate doing the job the applied to do. Benefits are not the best since the company is not for profit, that's when the higher pay comes in to win you over. High turn over rate, never enough employees and always being mandated to work OT.

    Advice to Management

Hire more employees, get better working equipment.

I worked at CareFlite full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The most legitimate private ems company in the DFW area. Offers the highest pay compared to other ems companies. Plenty of overtime.

    Cons

It is one of the busiest ems systems. Majority of calls are transfers from hospitals. Easy to get burned out.

I have been working at CareFlite part-time

    Pros

-PRN is very flexilble (24 hours a month min, 36 hours/week max)
    - Shifts are fun and interesting
    -top of the line equipment
    -coworkers are great

    Cons

-expect very little from management, including recc. letters
-I have to email and call three or four different managers to get something done (ex. swap shift, fix timecard)

    Advice to Management

    1) do what you say you're going to do
    2) answer emails

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at CareFlite full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very progressive protocols, and - for the most part - very patient care oriented. The ground side management is pretty good at their jobs, maintaining everyone in the loop and such.

    Cons

There is a profound disconnect between the ground and air divisions. There is no clear cut path for a ground employee to make it to the air division, and it seems as though they would rather not hire those who are sometimes more qualified than most air employees.

    Advice to Management

Upper management doesn't understand what it is like working on an ambulance. I would advise them to perform a ride out on a busy 911 ambulance once every 6 months or so to make sure they remember the various things that happen during the course of a shift.

I worked at CareFlite full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is decent for comparable jobs in the field and area. The equipment and ambulances are better than most private EMS companies. Free certification renewals.

    Cons

Management is sub-par. A lot of favoritism.....not how long you have been there or how well you perform, but more of who you are friends with. Constant changes, poor employee morale, and everything is micromanaged.

    Advice to Management

Get all new management from all of the division tops to the shift supervisors. Allow staff better ways of informing upper (Grand Prairie) management of issues going on with any fear of retaliation.

I have been working at CareFlite full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Steady hours, plenty of overtime to go around. Supervisors care about their employees and will go to bat for them.

    Cons

Transfers pretty much everywhere you will be put. Not q huge thing, just not what I was expecting. Don't really have any other cons.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your supervisors, they do actually know what they are talking about.
