I have been working at CareerBuilder full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

great benefits, room for growth, if you do the work you can create amazing opportunities for yourself.

    Cons

weird about working remotely. with the exception of those employees that are part of a phone queue there is no reason that we should not be able to work from home at least part of the week. There is a total lack of consistency from team to team about being able to do this.

    Advice to Management

Less meetings, there are just so many meetings. Bring back summer hours- it was a huge part of working here, it seems silly i'm sure but the morale it created was the best.

I worked at CareerBuilder full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to build on greener sales skills
    Fast paced environment
Lots of fun people to work with
Tons of opportunity if you put in the effort and have a strong internal brand
Compensation is strong and management works closely with you to ensure you are hitting your targets if you are falling short. If you are dedicated and motivated to learn and grow, management will reciprocate to ensure success
The culture is fun and inviting- everyone is welcoming and enjoys winning

    Cons

The market is getting tighter and tighter which is commoditizing the core products- becoming more and more difficult to become engrained with customers
Most reps at all levels need to balance the full life cycle sales process including account management and renewals- this is starting to get corrected
The communication from the top down has become less transparent than before, making most producers and low level managers feeling uncertain about the future

    Advice to Management

It's difficult to give advice to current management, as they are currently going through an acquisition- I would say to no matter what, deliver the message to your people regardless if that message is unclear or not the best. Just be honest and communicate that you don't know what is going to happen and explain the steps you're taking to get answers- spinning bad news can lead to frustration and uncertainty. CareerBuilder does an excellent job keeping their people motivated and excited about their positions- during these times of transition, keep that in mind to drive productivity! This is a fantastic place to work that is filled with great people!

Amazing growth opportunity. Plenty of training. If you have ideas, your voice is most certainly heard.

    Cons

Changing culture, a bit of unknowns with recent changes in ownership. Loss of original company culture.

I have been working at CareerBuilder full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Have been with CareerBuilder over 7 years and the company continues to evolve and challenges its employees to evolve with it. The transition from an advertising company to and advertising and software company has separated CareerBuilder from everyone else in the industry and opened many new opportunities for its employees.

    Cons

Due to the product suite growing so vast it's sometimes hard to understand what you should be focusing on week to week and month to month. Another effect of this can result in a lack of clear communication on where that focus should be.

    Advice to Management

Continue to zero in on who you are in the marketplace and make sure that is being clearly communicated to your employees.

I have been working at CareerBuilder full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people, culture, benefits and professional development are amazing. Have never seen or experienced any badmouthing, backstabbing or disrespectful behaviors among or between employees at any level. Very authentic and passionate leaders who want to do right by the employees and encourage candor, growth, promotional opportunities and new ideas throughout every part of the business and at every level and location. Would have rated it 5 stars if we could get this sale behind us and move on.

    Cons

There has been quite a bit of change due to the pending sale and employees are feeling vulnerable and uncertain for the first time in many of their careers with the company. The pay tends to be on the lower end and and benefits such as summer hours, that were compensating factors, are starting to disappear.

    Advice to Management

You've created something magical here. Keep it alive by closely managing and communicating the change, the why's behind the strategy and holding those who are pulling us back from greatness accountable to higher expectations. Either consider paying competitive market-based salaries across the board, or get a little more creative with our benefits and keep the summer hours tradition going.

I have been working at CareerBuilder full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The People they hire for sales who are the boots on the ground are pretty amazing! I loved the people I worked with!
You will come out a better sales person
C- Level Leadership: CEO, CIO, VP of middle market Sales - AMAZING! Wish it trickled down to the manager level.
Transparency- C-Level always let you knew where the company stood
    Pay is Good
    Benefits are very Good

    Cons

Middle Management - The Directors and some managers (who learned from directors)
You will feel like you are being fired every day - lead by fear
The base is so high because you can't make the commission, not because you didn't make your number but because they changed your book on you before you could get paid on it. Most frustrating part of the job.
Summer hours? I never once used a Friday off, if you are there to try and make money you won't.

    Advice to Management

Do a manager evaluation!!! In fact do a manager skills test! I saw many amazing managers leave or get demoted because they challenged the status quo. Stop letting managers get promoted because they are just like you, or are your friends after work. Sometimes those aren't the brightest people. Let account managers keep the relationships they fostered. Get real, we all know its the unqualified managers/directors that are driving the company to the ground. Clean House! This company has something special, it just needs to be fostered with the right leadership on the ground level.

    Pros

Compensation is generous and you have a lot of freedom to do what you need to do to close deals.

    Cons

Lots of pressure as the companies transitions from advertising to software and faces significant competition.
