I have been working at Caregiver Homes full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Your loved one would prefer to be home with you. No one really wants to go to a nursing home, and a nursing home is not the best placement for every elderly person. You are best qualified to care for your family member because you love and understand them. Knowing their likes and dislikes, their personal temperament, and the presence of the family bond allows you to provide a better quality of life usually.

    Cons

When you take on the role of a caregiver, you are giving up your own personal time. It will be hard for you to travel or take time off. While you might feel an obligation or even desire to take care of older relatives, you might also have the conflicting emotion of resentment.

I worked at Caregiver Homes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible scheduling of appointments
Opportunity to meet diverse, interesting consumers
RN's and CM's are great people who work incredibly hard

    Cons

Benefits are eh....Tuition reimbursement is a joke
You're not really as much of a clinical team as you are account managers. The most important thing is to add as many new accounts as possible and keep as many people on the list to keep those MassHealth payments rolling in.

    Advice to Management

Address the issue of constant changes in paperwork and trainings. The company is very top heavy and these highly paid positions are always justifying their roles by creating more trainings, new ways to document etc. All good ideas but there is a real issue with burnout in the field staff due to these extra hours and materials - which usually change within a few months.
Separate the wheat from the chaff...

I worked at Caregiver Homes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly co-workers, schedule flexibility, generous travel stipend

    Cons

Rarely promote from within, salary not competitive, benefits not that great - no tuition reimbursement, minimal PTO, lousy merit increases. Senior management talks a good game but does not practice what they preach. Very top heavy at corporate with lots of highly paid consultants

    Advice to Management

Reward your loyal and hardworking employees - get the deadwood in leadership roles out -

    Pros

Work Life balance, good pay, good benefits.

    Cons

Management doesn't allow for their employees growth, upper management out of touch with what the job is in the field, worker bees not able to give constructive ideas or go against what management thinks without being written up or terminated.

    Advice to Management

If you are looking for a team environment then set up a structure where all members are respected.

I have been working at Caregiver Homes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Caregiver Homes is a growing company which allows for career growth. Caregiver Homes has many strong leaders that are driven by the companies mission to stand with the caregiver.

    Cons

The company is ever changing due to its growth, if someone has a low threshold for change they could be unsuccessful.

    Advice to Management

Staff recognition is key to success, an under appreciated employee will under perform and a highly appreciated employee will over perform and ultimately be proud of their work.
