I have been working at Carestream Health full-time for more than 9 years

    Pros

Great people, good products. Strong research and development teams. Carestream pays well. Aggressive sales and marketing. Getting stronger in the market

    Cons

Too many tasks to ask of one person. We usually lack qualified people to actually implement the products. Insurance is really bad. Executive leadership seems to be blind to the mistakes of mid level management.

    Advice to Management

Hire more technical and clinical SMEs, less management. We have become very top heavy in the last 2 years

    I worked at Carestream Health

    Pros

Smart, motivated co-workers Leading-edge products Decent life-work balance

    Cons

Management clearly more concerned with their own status and compensation than with the good of the company Forced bell-curve rating system -- a 5 of people in each dept. MUST be given the lowest possible ranking , no matter how good they are... barbaric system

I worked at Carestream Health full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Great co-workers and most of the management. Pay is good. Many opportunities for advancement, especially if you are fresh out of college.

    Cons

Too much internal focus. The layoff policy is threatening to everyone making it difficult to get things done.

    Advice to Management

Work on creating a more professional, supportive and trusting work environment.

    I worked at Carestream Health

    Pros

Co-workers - capable, hard-working, and care for one another

    Cons

Recent management changes got rid of capable leaders and replaced them with outsiders who once worked for a competitor. One by one capable managers were dropped and replaced with cronies who are bringing a good company down

    Advice to Management

To those at the top, if you don't know what is going on, please learn soon, before all the folks who really cared are fired or leave...

I have been working at Carestream Health

    Pros

Some of the product are very good.

    Cons

Management communication to employees is very poor. Training of employees on new products is very poor. Layoff are continual, increasing number of managers while decreasing individual contributors.

    Advice to Management

Would suggest that there be considerably better communication between them and their employees.

    I worked at Carestream Health

    Pros

Good health insurance and paid-time-off, if you get to use that. Exposure to new technologies in some positions and projects.

    Cons

Too much work on each employee - multiple highly tenured people leaving within a short burst of time from "prestigious" new product development team (which no-one believes in) tells me something is very very wrong. Carestream Dental's product line is assembled from companies operating in various market segments, however the leadership has not yet incentivized/convinced the management of the product line in each segment...

Incentivize your teams to work together. It's not rocket science, people.

I have been working at Carestream Health

    Pros

Enjoy my work, most coworkers are great, and the products are interesting. Enjoy working with customers to deliver a solution.

    Cons

Incompetent leadership. Current leadership is laying off employees with experience and bringing in new employees from their old employer. Very threatening work environment. Not a good place to work.

    Advice to Management

My advice to senior leadership is get out and see what is happening with some of the new Directors you have hired. They are driving the workforce into the ground.

    I worked at Carestream Health

    Pros

Great industry - the business of improving the healthcare system. Carestream Health people in the field, in acquired companies and in remote locations are dedicated professionals focused on making a difference. They are driven by results and find ways to circumvent the bureaucracy. The Kodak brand they carry for the short term continues to open doors to customers.

    Cons

management has struggled unsuccessfully for too many years how to grow the business. As a result of too many failed plans, good people have left or been asked to leave. Ineffective leaders are not moved aside or removed. The stagnant leadership remains the same. Ultimately CSH is evolving into a marketing shell that will outsource its portfolio, leaving field reps to struggle with system integration and dissatisfied...
