I have been working at Carestream Health full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I waited until my one year anniversary to write this review because I felt it was fair to give the company that much time before I wrote something regarding my employment here. In short, Carestream is a great company. It has, like many other companies in Rochester, it's ups and downs, but this place provides valuable products that truly impacts patient outcomes in a extremely positive way. Pro's 1) The people here...

    Cons

    1) Exit is looming, so it is tough to gauge where our future is going. After 10 years this is going to happen, not knowing when or how sometimes makes the mood a little tense. 2) Upper management needs to inject passion, energy, and focus into this place more often. Sometimes momentum can be lacking, although we have numerous wins on a regular basis. 3) Change needs to come...

    Advice to Management

Drive us towards an exit as well as you can, bring on more resources, and evangelize more. We need leaders that can inject life and energy into all aspects of the business because many of us truly care about this company and live/breathe/eat the value it brings to the patients we serve. Rochester needs this place to be healthy, it is one of the best places it has, do what you can to stop and think about what we really...

    I worked at Carestream Health

    Pros

Great co-workers and middle management. Really fostered a good working environment. Building and labs are really up to date and nice.

    Cons

Upper management was constantly changing target metrics and not identifying key market deliverable in order to facilitate strong product delvelopment

    Advice to Management

Communication from upper levels seems to be severely lacking. Research scientist are left in the dark as to what customers needs are.

I have been working at Carestream Health full-time

    Pros

Impressive product portfolio. Most workers are hard working and talented. Making Money

    Cons

Lack of revenue growth. Upper management are to a person focused on their own personal reward with personalities that make them primarily suck-ups, back-stabbers and in one case a likely psychotic (any one who ever worked there knows who this is....). None of this is a secret (even to Onex owners) but the CEO has the right to all personnel decisions and as long as you meet your...

    Advice to Management

The CEO has to make or approve most decisions (at a surprising low level). No hope for any meaningful change without a new CEO (which includes the often mentioned employee rating system

I have been working at Carestream Health

    Pros

They have pretty interesting technology, good facility and long term successful old business. But other than that, there is no pros

    Cons

A very toxic working environment with weird culture. Terrible upper management team and dysfunctional organization are driving good workers away.

I have been working at Carestream Health full-time

    Pros

The best part of Carestream are the people you work with. Also good salary and average benefits.

    Cons

Over the past year, the working environment has changed considerably. Upper management is willing to compromise their morals and integrity to meet business needs. The unfortunate part is that these objectives could be met quicker and with better quality without the negative environment. HR has become a puppet organization blindly following direction from the CEO. They were...

    Advice to Management

Learn that employee satisfaction and business results are not mutually exclusive. The CEO needs to replace all of his senior leadership because he does not listen to what they have to offer -- he should either hire people he will listen to or eliminate that level from the corporate structure.

    Pros

    Good products! It's a job.

    Cons

They cap sales professionals. Upper Management (CEO) feels no sales person should earn anywhere close to him! Very poor internal processes.

    Advice to Management

Get a new CEO. Remove commission caps for sales people as you are de-motivating them! Open your eyes.

I have been working at Carestream Health full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Happy to be working in such an engaging research & development area. Co-workers are great and the local management does their best. Recently, the culture has improved.

    Cons

Overall, Carestream as a company does not treat employees as well as other companies. Being owned by Onex Corporation means that the company can have a shorter term focus. That being said, they have found ways of being cost effective on things like health insurance while at the same time giving access to a limitless network of doctors. Upper management does not create an environment...

I worked at Carestream Health full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Pay rate is one of the best in the industry. Good benefits, health, 401k matching, great co workers. Fringe benefits were really good, like company car, etc.

    Cons

Very unorganized. I felt middle management 'whitewashed' information so upper management had no chance to make correct decisions. Sales promised things that were not in the product to get contract then disappeared and expected implementation to make it work. Very heavy work load with little to no management backing.

    Advice to Management

Review sales contracts before signature. Rate middle management on project successes. Require certified project managers.

"Poor communication from the top leads to disgruntled workforce"

    StarStarStarStarStar
      Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Carestream Health

      Pros

This company continually produces great products and has great design and marketing plan. The pay is very competitive. The core employees are respectful and knowledgeable. Their products are what is keeping this company successful.

      Cons

The communication from the top is extremely poor and negative. Daily job responsibilities and company goals are not effectively communicated to the core workers and it creates a frustrating work environment. Hostile meetings and demeaning comments from upper management are the norm here. Expect a lot of very negative and non-constructive public criticism on a daily basis. This...

      Advice to Management

Listen to new ideas. Find a better way to communicate the goals of the company to the core workforce. Get rid of the brutal rating system for employees. Find a way to change the culture of the workplace because it is driving people away and costing the company money.
