I have been working at Carey International full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Driving around in luxury vehicles all day without too much physical labor. There isn't immediate supervision when you're driving many miles from your workplace environment so it's less stress that way. You can work as many hours as you please and you usually have time to take naps or grab lunch somewhere. Most of the customers are reasonable people and easy to talk to (if they are the talkative type).

    Cons

You need to wake up very early in the morning (such as 3:00 AM or 4:00 AM). Or, you may have to work until late at night if you are on the night shift. This is a 24/7 company so it can take its toll on you (think Christmas, Thanksgiving, mornings, nights, summer, winter, etc). Driving in all weather conditions can be dangerous and/or unpleasant. It's hard to schedule something (and actually make it) such as a family dinner.

    Advice to Management

I think you ought to have specific shifts for people. I know this industry is very unpredictable but there can still be some more organizational structure to it. The start time and the finish time is just too open ended. People have lives and cannot be 100% flexible for their company (which is why people with young children at home are hard to come by in this industry). And there can be more thoughtfulness about the employee's time such as if you work Thanksgiving, you have off Christmas. Little things like that matter to people. However, I do think the management here is better than the typical management people in this industry.

    Pros

    - Great quality of service to the customer

    Cons

    - Lack of proper leadership.
    - Deteriorating industry where they feel they can still be priced 20-30% above the rest of the market.
    - Slow to adapt to changes in the economy to be successful, will continue to lose to the competition until this is resolved.
    - Sales team isn’t responsive to leads and ways to grow the business.
    - Poor Benefits, poor management at top level, poor training program

    Advice to Management

    - Develop better talent in your leadership
    - Adapt quicker to the rest of market to grow the business instead of declining in sales rapidly.

    Pros

Most co-workers are nice, convenient schedules if you don't ask to change more than once a year.

    Cons

Low wages comparatively, new management shake up but same ole' top down approach. Never met the new top dogs.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees! Work with the call center employees and not just the management favorites. We have good ideas on how to get the job done efficiently but you won't listen. It's easier to hire consultants and use that as one of the excuses for not giving employees raises, not even cost of living increases in over 3 years. I could go on but you aren't even reading this!

    Pros

nice shiny new building. That is pretty much it. Although the people are good if you can get past the VP/GM.

    Cons

VP is not to be trusted. Business has been ran into the ground recently with the amount of business declining each month. VP does not believe in any type of raises unless you move to a different position. No cost of living, no bump in pay at all. To get anywhere in this company you must be in the "IN" crowd and if you are not willing kiss up to get there, then you will never get anywhere. You will start to find about things coming up that will affect your department from other that are in the "IN" crowd and that he actually talks to. Worthless boss. Other managers are good at what they do but unfortunately until they find a different person to run this place, it will never improve. And honestly it could be too late anyway. No advertising, no trying to get new business. He's just happy having a job that doesn't require him to lift a finger for now.

    Advice to Management

    Get a new VP/ GM.

I worked at Carey International full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some of the employees are nice

    Cons

The managers are horrible they have their favorites whom they like. They do not follow proper protocol or procedure. Some kisses up more then others. They cater to new hires and brown nosers more then tenured agents.

    Advice to Management

Start treating all agents the same across the board. When someone reports on what they notice stop retaliating against that person that is just not right. You know the trouble makers from the non trouble makers. The value of Carey is being run down to the ground Carey will not be around much longer if agents are still being treated like this. Firing ppl for no reasons than making up lies on them.
