I have been working at Cargill full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Cargill has very strong ethics and as an employee, I feel proud to work for a company that is so committed to the values they promote. The direction of the company feels more exciting now than it has in the past 20 years. The vision seems clear and something that employees, contractors, customers and vendors can get excited about.

    Cons

While the vision is exciting, the execution to achieve that vision is questionable. There are many large scale efforts of change going on at the same time and these efforts are not integrated. So, as an employee, it feels like a constant disruption, as a manager, it is hard to be constantly supporting when all these changes happen simultaneously. Lack of integration for all these efforts makes it appear that they are not organized and well-thought out.

    Advice to Management

I'm excited about the Game Plan for Success and believe the desire is there to achieve our vision. If you want to behave as One Cargill, then you need to have a standard way of integrating activities and projects across the organization. Thinking we can be One Cargill while letting every business and function determine their own priority and initiative is a path to continued failure and will not achieve our desired results financially or organizationally.

I have been working at Cargill (More than a year)

    Pros

Entrepreneurial culture. Smart people. Very profit driven. Good physical footprint. Great training grounds.
If you're smart and on a fast track, you will be loved.
If you're not on a fast track, be ready to get laid off, particularly in commercial roles.

    Cons

One team - one dream culture doesn't always bode well for bonuses.
    IT systems are terrible.
A good amount of incompetent people.

    Advice to Management

Stop bringing supply chain mentality to your trading divisions.
Give better bonuses, otherwise good people will always leave.
Stop hiding behind the "we do good" model and start focusing on commercial opportunities.
Start doing more good and please David MacMillan stop writing articles on HuffingtonPost (your post on GMOs was particularly horrendous). All the good gets cancelled out with such poorly thought-out articles.

I worked at Cargill (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nice location, newer building, nice pond and cafeteria.

    Cons

IT is a disaster or as a current employee told me "a train wreck". Management is out of touch.

    Advice to Management

Ever heard of bottoms up approach? Listen to the people who do the work not people assigned to create reports for management. Reports are often incomplete and do not understand the value of human knowledge.

I have been working at Cargill full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I think I started with a higher base pay due to my education. There's great room to grow and I think I will always have that edge because of my education.

    Cons

Right now, I can't really think of any. Anthony I would list here would be so miniscule that it wouldn't be fair to call it a con.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Stay open minded and push each chemist to strive to achieve more than they thought possible.

    I worked at Cargill full-time

    Pros

Nothing great to say at all about this organization. Very racist

    Cons

You are living there. The trainers they gave me were impatient and rude plus distant. Team leaders didn't give a care, but the supervisor's daughter let's the QAs bring in candy and sit in the office. The head boss is also delusional and doesn't know how to keep a team. Very hypocritical staff...

    Advice to Management

Have a better structure for training. You as a supervisor need to work with your trainees to see what is going on. Don't listen to your workers who are too lazy to train. And look at your other QAs. How are you going to expect production workers to not eat candy if QAs be eating away? Hypocritical
