I have been working at Cargotec full-time

    Pros

    The insurance program is good.

    Cons

Quick to find fault and not recognize the positives. Lots of paperwork and programs that don't always work.

    Advice to Management

Spend time in the field with the technicians and see our problems. Treat us like humans and not just money makers.

I worked at Cargotec full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Staff - with few notable exceptions I worked with a great team. We pulled together to solve challenges and find success

Benefits - If one selects the high-deductible wellness plan, the company pays the full cost for employee only health, dental, & vision insurance premiums

    Cons

Management (Including HR Management) - when a manager has 5 people in a role in 5 years, the likelihood that it failures by all of those employees is much smaller than it is a failure of that manager.

Communication - I reported remotely and found it very difficult to maintain meaningful communication with others because of an out-of-sight/out-of-mind mentality

Project Management - this organization needs to learn how to manage change, involve all stake holders, devote sufficient resources to initiatives, and coordinate change across areas, rather than have siloed fiefdoms working at cross purposes instead of coming up with unified solutions to cross-functional challenges.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees when they bring concerns to you instead of feeling insulted.

    Consider others opinions

Stop being so authoritarian where any critique is seen as an attack

Human Resources should recognize that they should exist as a collaborative partner working for the success of employees as well as the company. Focusing on the success of the former will lead to the success of the latter.

Develop an internal RFP strategy and incorporate change and project management systems that map out the various cases for change as well as cost/benefit analysis.

Understand that being penny-wise can lead one to being pound-foolish

I have been working at Cargotec full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A great company with fresh ideas and above-average compensation. The employees are well educated and friendly. Management is usually fair. Software is pretty current.

    Cons

Little room for advancement since most upper management are external hires.
The company org chart is forever changing and the company doesn't share the changes with the employees.

    I worked at Cargotec full-time

    Pros

Co-workers are really friendly and they will help you out the best way they can. Work hours are quite flexible, work life balance is really good. Also you can keep your vacation when ever you want is flexible. Their systems, IT etc.. are quite updated which helps to do your job.

    Cons

Salary is not very good, Its not competitive. If you look a company with promotion possibilities look else where, there is none. Doesn't really matter if you do a good job, great job or excellent job. You gain nothing in the long run salary wise or promotion, so just doing the bare minimum and no one can't complaint.

    Advice to Management

    Compensation

I have been working at Cargotec full-time

    Pros

There is a lot of turn over and new management coming on-board. The culture contains a lot of uncertainty and instability

    Cons

Jobs for current positions are posted as open on the internet. Many of the "open" positions are currently filled with temporary help. There is little direction from supervisors, but much blame.

    Advice to Management

Treat all the employees as you would like to be treated, not as you were in the past and not as servants. The Blame Game is not good for morale.

    I worked at Cargotec full-time

    Pros

Pretty good work/life balance. Benefits were some of the best in the area.

    Cons

The so called Management team was unable to work together for the common good for the entire company. To many times it was a battle to get things accomplished across department lines.

    Advice to Management

Grips and complaints moves lateral across your own peer group; if the issue doesn’t get resolved then grips and complaints move up in the leadership chain. Not only learn how to hold people accountable, learn how to hold yourself accountable.
