    Pros

    Great medical, dental and vision benefits, profit sharing, and matched on 401k up to 3% with half match up to 5%.

    Cons

    No room for advancement or growth. Upper management hires outside the company without giving current employees the option to apply for new positions.

    Advice to Management

    Promote within.

    I have been working at Cargotec full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    A great company with fresh ideas and above-average compensation. The employees are well educated and friendly. Management is usually fair. Software is pretty current.

    Cons

    Little room for advancement since most upper management are external hires.
    The company org chart is forever changing and the company doesn't share the changes with the employees.

    Pros

    The work although extremely slow is not bad. Time off without pay is granted with no hastle. The company is strong and extremely profitable. Allegedly there is a quality training program.

    Cons

    The training is not made available due to the expense. There is no per diem and the expense policy is a huge hastle and based a greedy philosophy. The work load is extremely minimal, but heavy on the weekends and holidays. The plans for growth of this business unit is strangled by their absolute frugal philosophy.

    Advice to Management

    If you intend on being competitive in the marketplace and attract quality talent, then I strongly suggest adopting a per diem policy that is comparable to the industry standard. Keep the commitments you make on training, work, ect. Keep in mind that while you are seeking quality employees to join your ranks so are many other employers.

    Focus on outsourcing key functions. Poor communication from top management. Constant org changes.

    I worked at Cargotec full-time

    Pros

    Co-workers are really friendly and they will help you out the best way they can. Work hours are quite flexible, work life balance is really good. Also you can keep your vacation when ever you want is flexible. Their systems, IT etc.. are quite updated which helps to do your job.

    Cons

    Salary is not very good, Its not competitive. If you look a company with promotion possibilities look else where, there is none. Doesn't really matter if you do a good job, great job or excellent job. You gain nothing in the long run salary wise or promotion, so just doing the bare minimum and no one can't complaint.

    Pros

    There is a lot of turn over and new management coming on-board. The culture contains a lot of uncertainty and instability

    Cons

    Jobs for current positions are posted as open on the internet. Many of the "open" positions are currently filled with temporary help. There is little direction from supervisors, but much blame.

    Advice to Management

    Treat all the employees as you would like to be treated, not as you were in the past and not as servants. The Blame Game is not good for morale.

    Pros

    Pretty good work/life balance. Benefits were some of the best in the area.

    Cons

    The so called Management team was unable to work together for the common good for the entire company. To many times it was a battle to get things accomplished across department lines.

    Advice to Management

    Grips and complaints moves lateral across your own peer group; if the issue doesn’t get resolved then grips and complaints move up in the leadership chain. Not only learn how to hold people accountable, learn how to hold yourself accountable.
