I worked at Caribou Coffee part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I loved how they made it a team mentality and trained everyone with the educational videos

    Cons

The early work hours. Sharing the tips can also be annoying.

    Advice to Management

Be patient with those learning the computer system.

I have been working at Caribou Coffee part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

We have some pretty awesome customers and great product. There’s always something to do so it doesn’t get too boring. I live that they are accepting of individuality by not caring what color your hair is or if you have visible tattoos.

    Cons

Coworkers tend to be younger and don’t seem to care as much about following policy and procedure as how to most quickly get the job done in a mostly satisfactory manner. There is also low morale by not giving enough hours to be able to sufficiently run the store to the standards they want in both customer service and P&P.

I worked at Caribou Coffee part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Tips are nice.
Wonderful to get to know Regulars.

    Cons

Store Managers - tend to work short shift or take weekends off.
Schedules lots of new people. How are you able to serve your customer with the highest level. - You cannot.
Running short handed during BOGO or when there are events within the city.
    To many Clicks within Store.
    No Communication.
    Attitudes at management level
Not looking at the true picture
Putting people in a situation where they would Fail
    High Turnover
    Putting aces in there places.

    Advice to Management

    Stop having high expectation.
Look for quality employees, not just a body.
Stop adding more product to sell within the store. If you are going to add more you need to have more people scheduled.
Hiring People that are going to listen to concerns of the employee vs having employee surveys and than not doing anything about the concerns or issues.

I have been working at Caribou Coffee part-time

    Pros

Half pound coffee, free drink each shift, friendly coworkers, bosses who want you to succeed

    Cons

High turn over rate, over hire, not enough hours to go around

I worked at Caribou Coffee full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    *Learned a lot about coffee.
    *Free drink per shift
    *Tips can add up
    *Day goes by fast

    Cons

When I started working for Caribou Coffee, corporate still cared about their employees and customers. Three years later (and a promotion) and they no longer left their glass office to see what was happening in their stores. It was just constant pushing to sell beans and move faster with less. The stress got to all of us and we had a complete store turnover. Very sad.

    Advice to Management

Spend a day or two actually working behind the bar (especially during a BOGO) and see that there is no way we can maintain your sales demand and still make personal connections with customers every day. Caribou needs to get back to its roots!

I worked at Caribou Coffee part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers can be great, drinks can be fun to make, fast paced environment

    Cons

Stores are frequently very busy but understaffed, the pay isn't enough for what they expect of you, the shift hours are weird and change week by week so you end up closing late and opening at the crack of dawn

I have been working at Caribou Coffee part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Positive and fun environment. Free half pound coffee per week and free shift drink. Also able to try all drinks and products sold. Great management. Autonomy.

    Cons

Pay rate is too low. Sometimes not staffed well enough, especially during promotions such as BOGO.

    Advice to Management

Hire younger people who have a drive to actually work. Many high school age kids get hired and have no work ethic or even energy/enthusiasm for work.

I worked at Caribou Coffee part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Team was agreeable, good workplace chemistry, good balance of fast paced work and down time

    Cons

Inconsistent scheduling, angry customers, high-stress environment at times can be tough for new and experienced employees to work in simultaneously

    Advice to Management

Work new employees into the schedule at times that are slow enough for thorough training, LEAD don't direct, give orders but let employees work on their own without interfering

I have been working at Caribou Coffee (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Discounts on coffee
    - Room to grow your customer service skills
    - Good place to learn leadership skills
    - Being a shift leader is nice

    Cons

Every manager I have had is rude. Makes you feel bad for needing to cut back on hours. The whole company is understaffed, maybe because everybody takes their anger out on each other.

    Advice to Management

Upper management is very room to lower management. Lower management takes it out on the team. Not a good environment

    Pros

Close team member relationships and a flexible work schedule make this a really good job to start with!! Also tips make it easy to keep making money

    Cons

Transferring stores can be difficult if you're also transferring districts. It's been a struggle and is the reason I might leave the company
