I worked at Caribou Coffee part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Busy-time went by fast, Enjoyed the routine of opening 4-5X/week, good benefits, had a lot of fun as barista.

    Cons

Felt pressure from management to up-sell too much-especially with the beans. Some of the rules/pressures from management made customer's experience worse

I have been working at Caribou Coffee full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

If you are a morning person, starting at 5am and being off by 3pm is amazing! Scheduling and time off is really flexible.

    Cons

The company is constantly taking a new direction. You have to be able to adapt to change and be on board to make the cut. Also the pay isn't the greatest, especially considering the stress is involves managing millennials who don't care about being written up or fired.

    Pros

Fast paced job environment which helps make the time go by quickly. They're also very flexible with scheduling for things like school.

    Cons

A lot to remember with the drinks (repetition is key!) and your legs will tend to hurt after te day is done since you'll be on your feet for the majority of the day.

    Advice to Management

    Update the POS system!!!

    Pros

    Flexible schedules
    Decent employee discounts
    Great general philosophy
    Great training program in theory

    Cons

Scheduling software limits make shifts understaffed often
It is a company in transition, so, there are a lot of management positions and policies in flux

I worked at Caribou Coffee full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Mostly positive customer interactions. If you make something wrong you just smile & remake it. Customers love coming to get their favorite drinks!

    Cons

Not enough coworkers per shift. If someone calls off sometimes it's hard to fill their spot so you can be left short handed. Alot of requirements just to take an order, sometimes customers just want their drink, not a million questions.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to local happenings and schedule accordingly. Allow enough payroll to schedule more people per shift.

I worked at Caribou Coffee part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-THE PERKS ARE AMAZING if you love Caribou! You get a card that gives you a discount at ANY caribou, shift drinks, free beans or tea bags EVERY WEEK, and tips (which are great considering you are payed minimum wage)
-The co-workers! They make the job fun and you feel like they are always there to help you if you need it. Sometimes we'd blast fun music when closing or order a pizza to rotate eating in the back room.
-it's a very chill job when there's not a rush and you can actually get to know the regular customers and their orders. They make the job worth it.
-lots of training videos and samples of new menu items.
-Most of the managers/assistant managers/shift supervisors I've worked with really want to help you succeed and provide their own coaching.

    Cons

-Some of the customers make it VERY stressful. I got very bad anxiety attacks at times and eventually had to quit because the pay/benefits weren't worth the constant stress.
-Closing can be a pain and it's rare you'll get out on time.
-You can't call in sick. ESPECIALLY if you're closing since there's only two people scheduled at this time usually
    -Changing availability can be tricky.
-No clear scheduled breaks means sometimes you don't get one during rushes.
-you will smell like whipped cream and coffee all the time and not in a good way.
-sometimes you're asked to sell certain beans and have to mark down how many pounds you sell.

    Advice to Management

Honestly, the management was pretty great where I worked. The district managers would stop in from time to time too and they were very down to earth. Only advice would be to listen to the smaller stores in the company and make sure they're getting the same resources as the bigger stores.

    Pros

Free coffee all day which is great for coffee lovers. If you like working with people you will love the job.

    Cons

It's very fast paced and sometimes has you up too early. If you like being up and getting your day going you will like this.

I worked at Caribou Coffee part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun place to work - regular customers are great, flexible scheduling, discounts and free coffee are nice perks. Health insurance benefits available to part-time employees, which is excellent/

    Cons

Lack of communication from Management to staff that is actually doing the work. Less reliable and less capable team members promoted over other more viable candidates. Lack of growth opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Give people a chance to excel and grow so you don't have such a high turn over. Look inside your organization first before brining in supervisor and managment trainees.
