I worked at Caribou Coffee part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Tips are nice.
Wonderful to get to know Regulars.

    Cons

Store Managers - tend to work short shift or take weekends off.
Schedules lots of new people. How are you able to serve your customer with the highest level. - You cannot.
Running short handed during BOGO or when there are events within the city.
    To many Clicks within Store.
    No Communication.
    Attitudes at management level
Not looking at the true picture
Putting people in a situation where they would Fail
    High Turnover
    Putting aces in there places.

    Advice to Management

    Stop having high expectation.
Look for quality employees, not just a body.
Stop adding more product to sell within the store. If you are going to add more you need to have more people scheduled.
Hiring People that are going to listen to concerns of the employee vs having employee surveys and than not doing anything about the concerns or issues.

I worked at Caribou Coffee full-time

    Pros

Friendly work environment legacy (just the legacy unfortunately)

    Cons

New management is destroying a great brand. When you have executives making many hundreds of thousands of dollars and store members underpaid, it wont work long term.
There is no love for the brand

    Advice to Management

Talk to employees to learn if they really care about who is in charge.
    Everybody hates top management!

I worked at Caribou Coffee full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I loved my team and my regulars. Ioved the fast pace when you are staffed. Truly depends on what store you work at.
    Great health benefits

    Cons

Coporate has fallen from its core values. They continue to ask you to do more but not compensate anyone the way they should be

    Advice to Management

You need to get back to the core values and care about your team

I have been working at Caribou Coffee full-time

    Pros

The absolute best people work for this company. Tons of talent and want to succeed! A variety in your schedule is nice at times.

    Cons

Constant change with little communication makes creating a great team impossible. No work life balance and the work you do put in to find it will quickly be dismissed when you are realigned under new leadership every three months.

    Advice to Management

Communication is key. Share the plan of what you are trying to achieve. It's been 6 months since the eliminations throughout the company. Might be time to clue in the rest of the company to what is actually going on.

I have been working at Caribou Coffee full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work environment. Never had a day when i didn't want to come to work. Customers are very nice, and make your day.

    Cons

Lack of training. There is no communication from management. Never get your full 40 hours per week, have to add you PTO to make your full hours. No lunch or break room

    Advice to Management

Caribou needs to be more aggressive with their pay. Minimum wage keeps going up, but pay does not.

I worked at Caribou Coffee part-time

    Pros

Great quality coffee and espresso, 30% off food and drink, and a free 1/2 pound of beans each week. Every Christmas you get a free sweatshirt, and every shift a free drink. Also the dress code was very broad.

    Cons

I had 8 different managers in 2 1/2 years across two different locations, and had the same issues with all of them. This also made having a consistent work environment impossible. Almost every manager I had talked bad about my co-workers behind their backs to me, and I was pretty consistently working with supervisors who were so lazy that I essentially had to run the store even though I was making 2$ less per hour than them, and was not trained to do so. By far the worst part of my experience was that I worked closing shifts and almost always had to complete opening and mid-shift checklists that weren't done, or else my shift supervisor and I would get blamed for it, even though the closing checklist was 2x longer than the opening and mid checklists combined. Along with this we would get in trouble for staying too late after close in order to finish these projects which were not supposed to be our responsibility in the first place. I was very often scheduled outside of my availability, and then offered no help from management to cover the shift. If I ever had to call in sick, it was my responsibility to cover the shift at a few hours' notice. This encouraged employees to come in to work feeling ill and jeopardized the integrity of the product. People would often be promised promotions from upper management and then never given them. Management would also never inform me of new products, promotions, and deals we had going on, with one exception the entire time I worked there. Usually I would find out from a customer who asked about it, which was embarrassing.

    Advice to Management

More strict enforcement on employees to complete their own daily checklists, be nicer to closers when they're set up to fail, be more careful when creating the schedule, don't make promises to employees that you cannot keep, and please work on trying to keep managers from quitting. Just treat employees like people it's really not difficult.

    Pros

Free shift drink every shift, mostly friendly people to deal with, tips from generous customers.

    Cons

Underpaid, co-workers can be hard to motivate to work, and no breaks. I worked a 10 hour shift once with no break, it's illegal but Caribou somehow found a loophole so they don't have to give breaks to their employees.

    Advice to Management

Even if overhead is pressuring you, please give breaks to your employees and let them know you're watching out for them.
