I have been working at Carl's Jr full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have never been taken care of so well by a company. Everyone is treated as a family. If you take care of your people they will take care of you!

    Cons

We hold each other to a very high standard so work is always a challenge. But that helps make it fun! We have a broad menu but they try to make operations as simple as possible.

    Pros

    Ease of opporation to learn

    Cons

CKE, controls POS and BOH software. Latest is not the greatest and a decade or 2 behind what is available.

    Advice to Management

Look into the latest technology for your management tools.

    Pros

Some of the other employees are really good to work with.

    Cons

Management treats you unfairly. When asked why they don't give you a good enough reason. At the end of the day all they care about is that "the store makes money"

    Advice to Management

Good employees are the ones that make the money in the store. If you loose them you loose your money. Learn to appreciate the ones that actually care about the store and work hard to make sure the store is running well. Without them you are nothing.

I have been working at Carl's Jr part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You develop consistency after working at the company for a while. Its nice to have a routine that can be done in a structured way.

    Cons

Can be working with people who do not have as much integrity or desire to put forth their best. As a result, people make mistakes and give 50-75% effort. Much more negative motivation than positive, for example if you got caught not scripting 100% they focus on the fact you missed 10% rather than the fact that you got a 90%. Career opportunities are far and few. Pretty much only open if you talk to district managers and someone gets fired for you to be promoted. They do not plan for succession. Took me almost 2 years to become a shift leader, but took others less than 6 months because of a shift leader shortage. The time frame difference causes a serious underlying problem with other people who have been at the job longer. The environment is depressing due to them hiring lazy people or people who get high on the job. The lack of full effort does not help when there's a rush and people complain about the wait time, but that's bad management. Does not help the time considering they want you to ask 7 questions per order, but that's sales.

    Advice to Management

Give more positive motivation, rather than negative.

I have been working at Carl's Jr part-time

    Pros

    + Flexible scheduling
+ 50% discounted food when on shift, 20% otherwise
+ Generally nice people to work with

    Cons

    - Often understaffed at my location anyway, which was privately owned
    - Even in times when there is nothing to do, shift leaders will make sure you're busy restocking or cleaning something unnecessarily
    - Unorganized work environment, lousy systems led to more messed up orders than there should be

    Advice to Management

Communicate with employees, create logical and efficient systems of doing things, keep things organized, use better menu/register software if at all possible
