I worked at Carleton University (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Set schedule, always paid on time, large campus with multiple tim hortons, o-train is nearby, many different options for places to eat, friendly co-workers

    Cons

it takes 15 minutes to get from one side of the campus to the other, there seems to be a lot of random incidents like water leaking, electrical issues, campus is ridiculously packed during September

    Advice to Management

actually make repairs to the buildings instead of just waiting for them to fall apart and fixing them after, on campus convenience stores should sell bottles of water

I worked at Carleton University as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

As a teaching assistant for the Psychology Department, I was able to assist professors in different subject areas (e.g., introduction to psychology, cognition, statistics). This meant that there were always new things to review and made each semester new and exciting.

    Cons

In 2013 there was no formal place for teaching assistants to hold office hours so we had to book one of the small computer rooms which could only fit 2-5 students, depending on the room. Not all computers had access to software needed for reviewing materials with students.

    Advice to Management

If the room situation above has not been addressed, please offer larger meeting space with computer and full software access.
