    Pros

You get to work around a lot of nice people and the office is close to a lot of the main roads.

    Cons

Seniur management always put personal politics in front of the success of projects and promoting good people. the people who are the personal friends of the management are the only ones that get any of the recognizing. I know of a lot of the people that are fed up with this thing and are now looking to leave including me. Bringing in the new things in technology is very hard too because the management does not get educated on new areas.

    Advice to Management

In good busness you get and reward good people, and you do not promote or put-down people because of personal politics or race or religions. Also the learning of yourself does not stop because you get in management. Try to go to some seminar to learn the new things to do better technology leadership.

You can take as much time off when you want.

    Cons

You will never get a raise and will also have no option to move up in the company. They will always find ways to hold you back.

    Advice to Management

Show your workers some respect and pay them a fair wage with yearly raises

    Cons

    4. Not progressive
    5. Boys Club

    Advice to Management

Listen better to the people doing the work about what and who is needed. You have cut employees that were providing leadership and direction. Now it's a place based on favortisum and not performance.

I worked at Carlson Marketing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They were throwing big money around to get some top quality people so salary levels were high. New owner in Canada had their act together but.......

    Cons

Parade of non-effective leaders who thought they could turn around the US Consumer group failed at every turn. Employee motivation, strategic planning, and more importantly improving the technology product they needed to stay competitive.

    Advice to Management

Blow up the consumer group and create from scratch. Cut your layers of management so you can provide a competitive offering. Get people that know what they are doing in the Technology group. Support and enhance the Analytics team....they need to be the leaders.

I worked at Carlson Marketing (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Most of the people are very talented and have a passion for doing a great job. Teams are focused on delivering for clients.

    Cons

Management is continually changing direction and sending mixed message to employees.
Regular layoffs don't do much to help morale among employees.

    Advice to Management

Develop a strategy of who you want to be and follow it. Seems to be a foundation of sand that is continually shifting with the wind. Not a strong message to the rank and file employee.

    Pros

If you like corporate jobs, this place is your typical corporation. Usual corporate benefit packages and annual bonuses.

    Cons

Poor Management of clients and staff. Also slow in adapting to new technologies and trends. There is also a severe lack of cooperation between departments.

    Advice to Management

Hire more knowledgeable and capable management staff and acquire an external creative boutique instead.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

THere are a variety of projects and clients. Many talent people, but much confusion with frequent changing of management, cultural practices and more.

    Cons

Carlson went through multiple levels of management and layoffs -- sometimes making huge mistakes with the people and departments they decided to ax people and then reverse their own misakes Many long lasting fifedoms also still exist at the corporate and regional levels.

    Advice to Management

There have been too many legacy people (who have been there 20+ years) still running things the way they want to -- leaving litle or no room for new ideas and innovation.

    Pros

Salary was fairly good, great co-workers

    Cons

Two people can destroy a huge company. New upper management fired the most talented and most experienced (older & higher salaried) in a classless and insulting manner, then claimed our work as their own.

    Advice to Management

    Too late.
