I worked at Carnival full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company is going through significant changes (organizational, focus, market strategy) since the new CEO took place a few years ago. The best years of this highly successful company are still ahead. Workplace is fine, good environment, and offers good benefits. Financials are very strong.

    Cons

Pay is a bit lower than market and there is some turmoil due to some re-organizations.

I worked at Carnival full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Travel, experiences, party, new friends, guest privileges.

    Cons

Photographers have very long working hours everyday, a lot of sales pushing, ridiculous targets to achieve bonus, very routinary job.. guests end up hating you. Working in Carnival is really cool, just not as a photographer.

    Advice to Management

Please remove the stupid system of printing pictures, we live in a digital world now and is not environmentally good to waste tons of paper every cruise.

I have been working at Carnival full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good diversity, both professionally and socially. Entrepreneurial for a large company.

    Cons

Senior management team are mostly former consultants and rely on consultants to run the business. Employees are not empowered to make decisions or drive change as consultants are used for nearly all change management initiatives. Comp is lower than competitors, HR doesn't understand the industry and manages comp.

    Advice to Management

Invest in and empower employees. Company needs true leaders who trust their team. Stop relying on so many consultants; the existing team knows where the opportunities are and how to fix them. Be more competitive with comp.
