I have been working at Carnival full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company and the opportunity to make serious money each month based on the number of bookings you make plus you free cruises if you are flexible and willing to go stand by

    Cons

Base pay sucks so bad that it might as well be commission only. This position consumes your life. This is a salary position so they expect you to work late everyday and most weekends.

    Advice to Management

management is great however let people come in when they can versus always asking what time are you coming to work on Saturday and Sunday

I worked at Carnival full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Supportive, paid training; Available overtime earning opportunities; INCREDIBLE PEOPLE TO WORK WITH....great energy and ethics; work from home opportunities

    Cons

365/24hr customer service means "new kid on the block" has to EARN better bid position, so awarded shifts may be unworkable.....

    Advice to Management

    ....create additional "day shifts"?!?

I worked at Carnival full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Office is beautiful.
    Management is available and helpful.

    Cons

Schedule was 10:50am to 7:00pm. So it was hard to get things done before or after work.

It was personally hard for me to get passionate about selling cruises but that is a personal feeling.

    Advice to Management

Don't follow people to the door if they're leaving after an eight hour shift and making 120 phone calls... It gets tiresome and very demotivating to be told that if you leave after working full time you're not working enough.

I worked at Carnival full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Health Benefits were actually very good.

    Cons

Poor pay plan, it's very hard to make money here. The successful people there say that you have to give it a year in order to see if you will succeed or not. Even if you finish out working a full month and then quit the following month, they DO NOT pay you for your last months commission. Their training program was ok, but there was hardly any sales role play during training; very little follow up coaching from management once you get out on the sales floor. There is a huge turnover rate, 35 new hires monthly. You have a sales job, but what you are really doing is all their Marketing for them at $8/hr. You're making 120+ phone calls a day spreading the word about Carnival. They expect you to work 60 hours a week to be successful, but they won't approve you for overtime your first 3 months. Then they are set up so that they don't have to pay you overtime because you are a commission sales rep, I believe this is Florida law.

I worked at Carnival (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great opportunity to make lots of money in a short period of time. flexible environment where you're not being micro managed. they provide you with all the tools to be successful.

    Cons

The management staff is like a mafia, because HR isn't in the building they tend take full advantage of doing things that are against the policy. if you are trying to move up the ladder this isn't the place to be. You work a lot of hours for very cheap, you don't make overtime, and you will have to work on Saturday. You will work like a slave and will never see your family and friends ever again.

    Advice to Management

please increase the minimum wage. stop treating your employees like slaves and treat them as you would like your family to be treated.
