I have been working at Carnival full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It is a fun place to work. You are treated as a member of a big family. Management has an open door policy.

    Cons

Long hours, there is no work life balance. If you want to be successful you have to all the time even when you are off.

    I worked at Carnival full-time

    Pros

Excellent benefits, cruise benefits, paid time off, including sick time. On site gym and day care, nice cafeteria. They do a lot to make employees feel engaged.

    Cons

Bias with salary and advancement, a lot of nepotism. You need to play the game in order to get any where. It is all based on who you know and not what you know.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to your employees instead of hiding behind closed doors.

I have been working at Carnival full-time

    Pros

Provides plenty of info, allows you to cruise for a lower fee, 24 hour call taking.

    Cons

Training is continuous and there is not enough hours to compensate everyone. You can train for over a month, pay your money, invest time, and they can drop you w/o explanation. Does not treat you in the manner in which they advise you to act or treat others.

    Advice to Management

Take more of interest when someone has done this much work to obtain a position. Dont just take the csp money. Have a weekly meeting for your new csp that is in certification to allow them to ask questions and get answers. Act like you care.

I worked at Carnival (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Most of the people are nice and well-intentioned
    - Pay is decent

    Cons

    - They tend to hire contractors, which means you're unlikely to be valued
    - Broken culture means lots of politics, bureaucracy, and no accountability
    - Most offices still have that '80s "cubicle-farm" layout
    - You will have no connection to the customer - you just do whatever work you're told to do

    Advice to Management

The culture of the company needs to change. Most employees are there just for the paycheck, and it is not their fault, it is yours. Give people a purpose, give them more autonomy, and give them opportunities to grow.
