I worked at Carnival (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great opportunity to make lots of money in a short period of time. flexible environment where you're not being micro managed. they provide you with all the tools to be successful.

    Cons

The management staff is like a mafia, because HR isn't in the building they tend take full advantage of doing things that are against the policy. if you are trying to move up the ladder this isn't the place to be. You work a lot of hours for very cheap, you don't make overtime, and you will have to work on Saturday. You will work like a slave and will never see your family and friends ever again.

    Advice to Management

please increase the minimum wage. stop treating your employees like slaves and treat them as you would like your family to be treated.

    Pros

Working for a well-known company. Discounted cruises.

    Cons

Lot of favoritism, pressure and heavy workload for only 2% max annual pay increase. High turnover rate. Management only delegates and lacks a hands-on approach. If you want job security, this is not the job for you. Unfortunately this company is not what it seems.

I worked at Carnival (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Employees Eligible for Free Cruises
Extensive and Thorough Training on the Fleet and Itinerary
    Diversity of the Workforce

    Cons

Management Showed Very Poor Management Skills
There is a Total Lack of Concern for Employee Welfare
Overall Benefits Were Lackluster, at Best

    Advice to Management

Try to show your employees a modicum of respect and concern. While the training to learn about the fleet and cruise itinerary was thorough, the rest of the training was terrible.

    Pros

Upper Management treats you like family when your sales numbers are high.

    Cons

They treat you like strangers when life trauma affects your sales numbers.

    Advice to Management

Provide more humanistic support across the board to your employees. You've lost some of the best sales people you had for lack of compassion.
